| | | If everyone on this forum signs up for this company: http://www.opt-in-pays.com under Av then receives a few emails a day and clicks on the links, if maybe 15 people sign up and just click through some (maybe 3-10, your choice) emails - it can generate an easy 30-50 dollars a month I would hope, and if more people signed up, then more revenue, then people below them = More revenue for the guy on top - Av. Reading an email consists of opening it and clicking on a link. Bam - your done. It's just so simple, and I searched for some reviews and found pretty much all positive. If uer still has financial struggles this is one way that the whole forum could contribute without having to pay a dime. You could just make an email account devoted entirely to this. It's SO simple. I truthfully dont believe its a pyramid scam or something. I am testing this program out to see how it works, and maybe make 5 dollars! but if everyone just signed up for it and read (click) a few emails UER might be saved from classless advertisments and image deletion. And it is free to sign up. I know I wouldn't mind opening a few emails and clicking on the link inside to help out this site.

| | | This just encourages spammers. So no thanks. You might not mind getting spammed every day, but I do. Speaking of spam, check out this example that I got last year. I just had to keep it... | | | No. I'd rather continue to buy hosting space (which I assume Av is making a profit on) or just donate more. If others want to do this, that's fine with me, but I hate spam with a passion and volunteering to get it would be totally counter to everything I stand for. | | | Get an email account with spamguard. So far, I haven't received any unsolicited emails. (a week so far) No, there is no spyware to install. No one has to download anything, Av just signs up, gives a link and you click on it and sign up (like 5-10 minutes.) If your concerned with SPAM just make a seperate account yahoo account or something. Most email providers have SPAMguard and that knocks out 95% of it. A whole network could be created, of people under people under people. It's just so simple to do, and easy to execute. More people = More profit I promise I will let you guys know if I receive any Spam as a result of this.

Duh, that's the whole point of it. You are signing up for spam. They don't call it spam because you "asked" for it, but if it's email advertising, to me it's still spam. Relevant quote from the front page of their site:
Opt-in-Pays is a profit sharing opt-in email advertising company that will pay you for every advertisement email you read from Opt-in-Pays. |
So, in other words, you will get spam, and if you don't read it, no money is paid. So it becomes a waste of bandwidth.

If its solicited email it's not SPAM. Of course you don't get paid if you don't click on the links. Would you get paid if you never went to work? Last time I checked $$$ wasn't a waste of bandwith. Especially since it's not your bandwith. You don't have to read it you just click on a link and it is complete. Remember, SPAM is unsolicited. All the emails they send have a subject title of "opt-in-pays" distinguishing them from SPAM. And if you fear unsolicited SPAM as a result, use an old email address. I could have made an email account and I signed up for opt-in-pay in the approximate time it took for me to create this post. EDIT: It should be noted the reason I believe this would work so well is because this is the perfect enviroment for it. This community has a great and growing amount of depth, whether you realize it or not. At times there is also a need for financial aid. More dollars couldn't hurt, even if they just go as pure profit to Av. For the work that has been put into this site, a little profit is not something to scorn at. Isn't that exactly what a pyramid scam is? Either way, I don't like junk e-mail, and I won't make people money by clicking links in spam or any other junk e-mail. For every penny Av makes, I bet somebody else is making $1. I'd rather just donate directly, it's just easier.

Did I stress it enough? In any case, knock yourselves out. I wouldn't take the time to read that crap, but if you will, hey, that's cool. I just don't want people bitching and moaning at me later on if I haven't signed up. As I am a lazy freeloading bastard, I'll just ask here instead of trying to find out myself -- how much does it pay per click-through? Don't get defensive; I am asking because I am legitimately curious. [last edit 4/11/2004 7:40 PM by Servo - edited 1 times]

| | | It varies, but not much. The only way it amounts to anything is if more than 5 or so people sign up. I just don't have any money to donate. Zero, nada, ZILCH. But I would be more than happy to try this. And I KNOW this forum has the depth to generate some potentially serious income if people just clicked some links. I'm sure no one would bitch and moan at you.. and I'm sorry - I didn't see you had said the "me" part.

| | | Better idea; If 50 percent of the folks here would donate 1 us dollar every couple of months or so, I think the costs would be covered. How many people are registered now anyway? I'm guessing even a quarter of the registered users donating a dollar every two months would do it. Dukes

| | | Eeeeggghhh. Just skip a trip to McD's or something and drop Av $5. If you really can't afford that, what are you doing spending your time here? Go get a job and come back. These opt-in ad programs are almost always a scam and take longer to generate any real income than it would to go out and make some cash on your own. Mow a lawn. Sell lemonade. Prostitute your body. It's really not that hard.
