Old train shed in north downtown Montgomery

Im a new member from Montgomery, Al. I joined after watching the documentary. Anyways I have been exploring a few times around town trying to work on my photography skills before I knew it was called urban exploration. There's not much to explore to my knowledge in Montgomery but here the old train shed along the river on the north end of downtown I took a couple years ago. I think the state health department or someone else purchased it. I think this place was off Court St.

These pics were taken with a canon rebel 35mm with cheap glass before I picked up a sony alpha dslr last year. So they are a bit rough and exposure it crazy.

This place was used for loading cotton and other southern crop on the rail cars. Also there is another adjacent building I think was used to maintain and repaint the rail cars.

Those film shots have a great flavor imo. Cool place, does it still exist in this form? I'd think that Montgomery would have tons of places to explore. I have driven through a few times and only been there once but the whole city looks dilapidated.

Welcome to the forums. We have a small active team here in Birmingham, at some point we will should all get together.

thanks Exo. Also I exposed the film at a drug store instead of a pro shop so that effected the quality that and it was expired but previously frozen film.

Im not quite sure. I drove by it by myself two weekends ago and the fenced gate was open but I could not tell if city workers or whoever were on the property since it a crazy large overgrown area. I didnt get out of the car to really inspect. I havent heard of any construction planned to start anytime soon.

I have been to a nearby red brick building along the river that has a Civil War turret. I've been on the bridge leading to the turret but didnt look to find a way in. Also the main building is owned my the city for storage.

Then there are some abandoned homes here and there all over. Some of the cool spots are being demolished for downtown renewal. There used to be a mental hospital that a coworker told me about but it's been demolished over 15 years ago for a subdivision. There's probably other places to explorer that I dont know of.

Yes I would be down for a B'ham meet up. Just give me a few weeks notice and I see if I can do it. I have some fast lenses now so Im ready to take photos.
