| | Unfortunate news for late-night Milwaukee Urbexers < on 6/5/2010 12:26 AM >
| | | According to this recent article, there might be a push to up security on abandoned properties (the article singles out foreclosed homes, but also "vacant buildings" and "blighted areas"... How sad!

| | | Wow, and I thought Milwaukee cops were already D-bags. Sounds like a good way to spend money.

| | | Sort of hilarious how they seem to think between midnight and 3 am is the only time to go explore. Ah, good old Milwaukee, how I don't miss it one bit.

| | | yes, but a push to patrol otherwise rarely patrolled places might lead police to see a large amount of either homeless traffic, or possibly gang traffic. In most of Milwaukee's locations there's graffiti but no obvious active gang meeting or anything. According to the Oak Creek cop who busted me once, "kids come in these buildings to do two things: smoke pot and vandalize". (eyeroll).

| | | I guess I just try not to get caught. If I'm in a building, usually I know the cop is there, and he doesn't know I'm there. If he does know I'm there, he doesn't know where. Just last week I was taking flash pictures about 4 stories up and a cop came on the grounds, circled, and left. I'm sure they were more alert than usual since there was a fire there earlier that day. He didn't bother me one bit.....

| | | There have also been some anti graffiti initiatives going around in some areas, mainly the south side, so that might be an additional thorn.

| | | Thanks for postin this, I hadn't seen it. 12-3 is a pretty small window.. it's pretty funny really, all anyone would have to do is stay away from an abandonment for that time.. sounds like it's more of a hobo cleanup ordinance..

Or not be seen. Even if one or two people are actively searching for you, it's not hard to stay out of sight - especially if you're creative.

| | | Well, I usually don't urbex at those late hours, but I'm just thinking that if they regularly patrol these buildings, any little changes in the scenery there would be noticable from their night-to-night checks. We REALLY have to leave only footprints, and try not to, at that.

but what of it if they do notice something? it's not like police usually go into abandonments to look for people. and most police can be waited out.

| | | Some people just read WAY too much into things. I just grab a few brews and do shit right in front of cops. No problems.
