Location for a wedding shoot?

Hey guys,

I'm pretty new here, and I'm getting married next week. I really like the urban decay-style pics and originally my photographer and I were thinking of BrickWorks, but because they've been tearing it down I'm afraid we can't take any pics there.

I was wondering if you guys can recommend some areas in Toronto where we can take some cool wedding pics. I'll be in my tux and my bride will be in her wedding dress. We're not really looking to trespass, so if you guys can suggest a couple of places that feature some sort of urban decay and I can get a permit for, that would be great. Thanks very much!

Without trespassing- "the Guild Inn"
nestled at the top of the bluffs in beautiful scenic Scarborough, the Guild Inn's original home/mansion is now abandoned/closed. The grounds feature gardens, statues and many ruins of Toronto's past. there is some decay altho i dont think is really the type of decay you are looking for.
On the bright side you do need a permit for shooting wedding photography on the grounds.

They say "you can't judge a book by its cover!" I say "YES you can, if the cover has a girl on it with a cock in her mouth, its PORN!" if she's 18 and the cock is black, its GREAT porn!

If you really don't want to trespass, you can always get some good shots outside of abandoned blgs (linseed & chairtex have nice derelicte graffiti'd exteriors as well as the complex on Sterling Rd.

come to Parkdale, there's decay all over the place

but really though, there are lots of old walls that could be a great backdrop without having to trespass at all. Personally, I think the old Eastern wall of the CAMH complext (at Queen and Shaw) is a very pleasing style of brickwork. Maybe you don't want your wedding photos to have a backdrop from the old 'Insanitorium', but hey.... to each their own.

Old buildings but no decay, I'd say U of T. Also did a wedding shoot for a close friend up at an old mills ruin.

Ya...I think Rockwood is a little too far. The Old Mill Inn area looks nice, I called them, but they won't allow pics if you don't hold your wedding there, unfortunately.

I was actually here doing some portraits in the lake area yesterday and the entire Mill area is under construction anyways... The Cheltenham Brickworks outside Erin might be a nice spot, but again, you'd have to get permission from the company who own the property.

You seem to be deciding against the locations that require a permit yet in your initial post on this thread you said:

I don't see how you are going to find a location featuring Urban Decay to take photos at without trespassing or getting a permit. Since if you set foot on any private property without permission then technically you are trespassing. There have been many good suggestions mentioned so far some of which you could probably get away with shooting at without drawing the kind of attention you are attempting to avoid.
