I'm an amateur and don't claim to be skilled in photography. But I will be going to college for it in the fall. Just looking for friendly advice and tips. Thanks!

The first one just seems kinda boring to me, maybe a bit closer and different angle? Also a bit of work in post to take out that blow out in the middle.

I quite like the second one.

#1 - obviously fix the lines (use "lens correction" in Photoshop). Probably would be better cropped as well -- remove the brown part of the wall to the left. It might help a bit with composition.

#2 - looks ok. I assume that the focus point was on the chair. If so, I don't think it is out of focus. Would maybe process it to give a darker mood.
