Woah! Slow down, man! This is absolutely great. You obviously know your way around NC, and I will admit that I've been taking notes on your posts the last few days, but generally it's not a good idea to post specific location names, addresses, and coordinates on the public forums.
Just a heads up, since nobody wants these places to get trashed or locked down. Thanks!

Soon all these mills will be gone, has nothing to do with kids going back there but in the high demand for pre-compressed brick and antique timbers. That one I gave the coordinates to was last on the list for dismantling since some a-hole lit it on fire and burned a big hole in it and that its kinda in the woods mostly out of sight of yuppies who get offended when they see old junk and mills and scream it hurts their property value in their sub division 5 miles away.

Thats a long trip from VA. You outta check out the Dan & Yadkin rivers. Look at topo maps, or terraserver airel photos. I even got a program called USAphotomaps that downloads and saves terraserver photos and usgs topo map tiles, as well as street and contour overlays.
Really all you gotta do is follow a river in terraserver and circle the mills, not that all of them are abandon or 'unguarded' but some are.
You could also do the same thing with a kayak or canoe, though portage every few miles around the damns might be an annoyance if not a hazard.
But there outta be plenty of mills in VA, even the capitol of Richmond was founded where it was founded because of being where a deep, navigable river became rapid and could be used for hydro power for mills.
