Mines of Förby and another grey house

The first update of the year 2004 in The Silent The Complete - Modern Ruins in Finland:

- Mines of Förby - Abandoned mine tower and old mining equipment near an active mine. Old mine shaft in the middle of the woods.

- Another grey house - Just something I spotted while driving around the countryside.

As you can see, there's not much to explore in .fi :<

Nah, it's just different than in some other country. The history here and in other Scandinavian countries just doesn't make it possible to have some huge factories etc.

While they were building factories in other countries, we were sawing trees

That Förby mine certainly sounded like a dangerous place to visit during the winter? You cannot see if there's some hole under the snow...

Well, there is no holes or a danger of cave-in in the "safe zone", since the mine area, where the danger lies, is fenced. Of course there was a danger to slip and fall to the deep vale and/or shaft, because there was some 20 cm of "hard snow" (you know, the sort that bears your weight) that caused the fences to be much lower than in summer.

Sawmills are nice too. My next exploration will probably be the sawmill of Skogby in Tammisaari. DM has already visited the place, but there's always a possibility to find something new. The sawmill of Strömma is also near, but I'm not sure if I want to visit the place after I happened to visit the place at the same time as the owners :>

I'm also considering to start exploring the small, abandoned houses around the countryside (such as that "another grey house"). They're nice, and there's a lot of them. The only problem is that I can't hide my car near the places. Yesterday we spotted couple of nice places (abandoned, very grey, wide-open farm for example) with my friend, but there was no space for my car. Well, I'll have to try with my bicycle, since they're only some ~40 km away

I should also revisit some of the old places too, at least after I buy a new camera. My friend managed to find a way in to the Aijala mine, but the place looks a bit too active for me (some scrap business going on in the big halls etc.). We'll see. The place is for sale, too. It was a bit over 1M euros IIRC :>

BTW, have you explored anything recently?

Another thing that I've consider photographing (not much to explore) is those old "Lato", hay house or what ever?

I mean it might sound stupid now, but within the next ten to twenty years, those will be gone, as most of them are already now in a state of collapsing. Owning a decent collection of pictures from those, might prove quite valuable?

Yes I explored a factory or a warehouse in Herttoniemi. Didn't get inside to every place, but still it was exciting to climb over the fence in Herttoniemi. I mean the place is full of people always. Just look casual

"Barns"?

They don't seem to build them anymore. I've seen only couple of "new" (repaired/renovated) barns while driving around. Others have been on their one-way road to oblivion, slowly turning into pile of rotten boards, or painting frames to our living room

Hmh. There was a huge abandoned house near Perniö as.. It was in quite bad shape and so on. Yesterday, while driving to Särkisalo, I noticed, that someone had demolished the barn/"ulkorakennus" next to it, and started to renovate the building. Strange. Last summer I was about to explore it, but I had no time, because I wanted to reach some mill ruins during that day. Plärgh :<
