Busted in a drain (not me)

Ok, let's just be clear up front... this guy did *not* get busted because he was draining. He had been handcuffed by a DPS trooper, but managed to slip away and just happened to take refuge in a drain.

That said, though, I found the video on the Channel 5 site to be interesting and educational. Interesting because it's high-quality video of a run through some sweet wide-bore RCP. Educational because it shows that if you're going to tangle with the authorities, you don't want the railroad cops to be the ones to grab you (unless you're lucky enough to have a cameraman following him).

I think I've figured out how 2X can honestly claim his two consecutive lifetime UE awards. Because the cop says "You better get up before I kill you AGAIN". Now that's badass... kill the guy, resurrect him, and threaten to kill him all over.

I'd be curious, though, if anyone recognizes the guy. Your average Joe, handcuffed on the side of Stemmons Freeway, isn't going to see the tunnel and immediately associate it with freedom. On the other hand, an experienced drainer would realize he has the advantage... low light conditions favor the one who is acclimated to the dark, not the one fumbling with his flashlight. Makes me glad I still practice my blind-man draining when I can.

Oh, and if you do know him... can you, in passing, mention that there's the "right to remain silent", and there's the "right to be stupid and dead". If a cop says "What were you doing?" the correct constitutional response may be "I have the right to remain silent." If a cop says "Do you have a gun," silence may get you killed. Especially with a cop who has already killed you once, and/or if Channel 5 isn't there with a camera.

Which of course, is the source of the funniest exchange on the video:

Cop (to suspect): [expletives deleted]
Cop (to guy with a freaking camera): That's not live, right?
Cameraman: Yeah, it's live.
Cop (out loud): (nothing)
Cop (in his head, assumably): [expletives deleted]

*No* way. You figure you were on the infall side while all the fun was happening on the outfall?

I'm trying to figure out what would have been the best way to mess with the heads of the folks on the other end. For some reason, I keep coming back to putting on a Charlton Heston voice and rumbling "LET MY PEOPLE GO!"

Dude, yes. I am not joking at all I swear. But I should've done your Charlton voice from in the tunnel, might saved that dude. Not that he should've been saved but, come on, if your a cop, and you are arresting someone in a drain, and you heard Charlton Heston say,"LET MY PEOPLE GO!", or "ITS PEOPLE!!, SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!!" from inside that drain, you would run, and you know it. But I'm going to go with the first one next time! I really hope there isn't a next time. That shit wasn't that scary until you posted this thread, no I realize how lucky I am.

Wow that cop was a jackass.

He's already got the kid out of the drain, still handcuffed, and asking him if he has a gun on him. He's like "motherfucker I'll kill you" to the kid.

Epic fail in asking if the camera is shooting live after all the shit he said though. Damn.

Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =)

I know this may be hard to believe, but some cops have a real bad temper, and get really pissed when they cant get what they want right when they want it. SOME of them are basically big kids with a gun and a car that has cools lights and makes sweet sounds.

I'm really surprised that "cop" followed that kid into a drain, most cops wont do that unless they have back up and usually not for some dumb kid. Unless he is a murder suspect or something... And KJ, dude you have some bad timing, that better not rub off on me haha.

The cop *did* have backup... a Channel 5 reporter with a camera. The guy must have felt like he was going to be a star, like on COPS... so he HAD to be tough.

I guess it's just as well you didn't use the Voice of Moses on 'em... I could just see NBC5 running a piece on "Dallas' secret underground CHUD culture". Poorly-lit shots of random drains (most not even crawlable) as the voiceover intones ominously, "As the people of Dallas go about their business on the streets above, a lurking horror hides below. Tune in at 10 for... UNDERGROUND HOODLUMS!"

Ha! There is no doubt about it Fiend, my timing was waaaay off that night, but, I assure I will leave that shit back in Texas with me next time I'm up there. BTW, I will be up there in a couple of weeks, if you wanna hook up and go do some shit again. I'll PM you.

This time I will bring my SLR, and not let my girlfriend jump any walls with it! I'm still pissed I went through that bad ass building with no camera. =(
