Not a chance. I don't care about fast food, but energy drink? I'm like that bus from Speed. If my caffeine level drops below 50mg I die.

| | | last summer was lots of exploring plus mass consumption of xenergy and rockstar energy drinks. I lost at least 40lbs. I'm actually underweight now (6'2" and 140lbs) and having trouble re-gaining weight. I think the Xenergy drinks in particular fucked over my metabolism.

Trail Mix + water = ass + toilet - 2 hrs if you are used to constant physical activity, diet doesnt matter so much. stay hydrated, bring a sensible lunch with you, sit down and take a break every couple of hours and don't push it. if you consume massive amounts of sugar or do something stupid like eat turkey, of course it's going to put you on your ass. if you spend all day in a cubicle and don't exercise much, a big abandonment will kick your ass no matter what you eat/drink.

Trust me. Any time u want an energy drink, just have a hell of a lot of water instead. Nothing's worse than a freaking sugar crash mid explore. I used to be hooked, then I realized how much they actually slow you down in the long run.

It sounds like, good sir, you need to discover the modern miracle that is aspartame and other artificial sweeteners. Yeah, we can debate all day about how healthy some of those chemicals are, but hey... we are a breed that traverses abandonments full of asbestos and silica. And most of us smoke on top of that.

haha! yes... i will be living in an attic (as soon as i am done putting the walls in) and i am going to be putting in a rope to get in and out by... EVERY DAY... main reason? UE. i wanna be fast like lightning, and lift myself over places where using feet and legs is impossible... and if there is an easy entrance to a place? fuck that, im going to do(try) the much harder, more impractical method of entry...
(sometimes, i like to pretend i am a spy. im sure alot of people here do..)

| | | All I can say is I need to cut down on my soda intake.. I used to be like Vadder...I could go through a case of Mtn Dew per day. I cut it down to 20 oz or less per day for a long time, but my intake has started to creep back up. I'm back to near 6 cans per day, and starting to feel really sluggish. Gotta cut back on that shit and get my caffeine fix elsewhere... When it comes time to UE, I have some sort of caffeinated beverage before setting out, like maybe half a 20 oz coke. I keep water or gatoraid in my backpack, quantity depending on how long I think I'll be away from the vehicle. Most of the time I carry 20-40oz, and most of it is gone by the time I return to the car since I drink a lot. That half a coke still in my car? There to get rid of the caffeine headache that has probably started creeping up on me. Food wise, I do my best to avoid high fat foods (like McDonalds) before setting out. Last thing I want to happen is for my body to reject the fatty meal (like happens all too often with McDonalds) and force me to sit on some abandoned toilet shitting my brains out. For the UE after party? Red bull and vodka. Get my caffeine and sugar fix while getting drunk. What's not to love?

I would recommend for that routine actually completely taking down and recoiling the rope each day and packing everything into a backpack and setting it up again each time. When exploring, packing and unpacking and rigging an anchor and putting on your harness and tying all the knots generally takes far longer than actually rappelling, ascending or climbing. Also, read On Rope: http://www.amazon....lers/dp/1879961059

I didn't touch soda at work yesterday and drank a can when I got home. Without all those extra calories and sugar and caffeine I pretty much crashed and burned yesterday. I woke up today after a full 8 hours of sleep and went to work. My energy level is definitely taking a hit and I only had a small coke on break at work and one can with dinner tonight. But I can tell already my body is feeling better and hell the cut on my finger healed more overnight than it did in the last two weeks. I was overloading my body with the amount of sugar I was putting in it. The more soda I drink the more dehydrated I got and the more I drank to replace it the more dehydrated I got, I was drinking damn near a case a day before I realized it. I learned from doing calorie logs last fall that I replenish burned calories at my work with soda and yet somehow I have gained two pounds since two nights ago? Must be water-weight.
