The Asylumphiles may find this interesting, to see what is (and isn't) preserved of the British mental hospitals, most of which closed in the nineties.

All the below are now housing developments.

Long Grove, Epsom

Napsbury, Hertfordshire.

Park Prewett, Hampshire

Hill End Hospital, Hertfordshire

Pen-Y-Fal Hospital, Wales

Netherne Hospital, Surrey

I will update as I visit more.

Yeah, these are all completed jobs now.

Rauceby and St Ebbas are both still undergoing works.

Digby and Exminster in Exeter are good examples of conversions. Digby was enormous.

I've got some shots of Westmorland/Cumbria County asylum aka Garlands. and dovenby hall, aka West cumberland asylum. both have converted exsiting buildings into new usage, no idea where the photos are though :s

What makes me laugh is the Morgue has been converted into a 1bed bungalow, and renamed 'chapel of rest' but really yuo can see the actual chapel of rest is a seperate buildings, the house was actually *just a morgue & body storage shed :p

Go.. IN.. turbines...
