Ok, Explanation time:

So AnAppleSnail, Aurelie, and myself met up in downtown Raleigh yesterday afternoon around 4:30 to get some exploring done. With snow on the ground, we started trekking around. We first came to the warehouse where the above pictures were taken and probably spent 30-45 mins climbing around, then decided to move on. We came out and found another little hole in the wall type abandoned place that could only be accessed by squeezing in between the wall, and a failed attempt at bricking up the hole that was the entrance... unless you are AppleSnail/Aurelie and have a waist size of .05 lol. Well after we snapped a few quick pics in there we left, and on my way out, my jeans got caught on the brick/piece of metal and ripped them from the inside of my knee up to the top of my thigh lol. Luckily I had long johns on, black in color, so I didn't have to leave... I just looked like I was ready to rip the jeans off and turn into Insta-Ninja.

So, we started walking down the tracks to go get a closer look at some cranes that were being used to help build a new mental health/hospital building beside the maximum security prison in downtown Raleigh. As we approached, the thought of being any kind of stealthy was shot to hell by the crunch of the snow. We came to a guard tower and saw that there was someone in the bottom, so we decided to go say hello. About 20 feet from the tower is when we realized it might not be a good idea to startle the maximum security prison guard who is surely armed, so we waved our hands and called out saying hello. At first he had the look of, "who the hell are these kids", but we promptly told him we were unarmed and simply some people walking around taking pictures. He reminded us not to take pictures of the prison, and to stay warm, and then we were on our way back down the tracks. We walked another 100 yards or so further down the tracks, then hopped to the other side of a train parked on them, and started to head back... that's when we discovered the bicycle. Mind you this was no ordinary bicycle, but one of those freestyle, low, cool bikes that are like 600$. It was just laying in the middle of the tracks, on top of the snow (had been dropped there recently). There were bike tracks leading to it, and a set of foot prints, but we couldnt' figure out where it came from, or where the owner had gone to. We were going to just leave it, but it was in the middle of the tracks, and that presented a danger to the trains, so we grabbed it and started walking it down the tracks with us. There is more of a story to the bicycle, but we have plans for it so I'll wait till we finish those to tell everyone in the next thread about it ;)

So, it was a good night, spending about 4 hours exploring Raleigh. Thanks to AppleSnail and Aurelie for showing me some new stuff and not laughing hysterically when my pants ripped, b/c I would have laughed hahaha.

Wish I could have joined you. I walked those tracks recently (starting at the railroad bridge that you can climb inside) to get some pictures of new graffiti. I think i know which warehouse you were in too...
