I'm no compositional wizard but the topiary in the first shot is a wee bit imposing IMO, still like it though. in the second, I'm itching to see more of the building, but I find it more balanced. When is it going to be abandoned?

Was the light on the manor that uneven, or is that just the byproduct of HDR? It is really distracting.

You ought to tone down the HDR a bit, especially in the first one. It's distracting from the beauty of the place.

Agreed!

1 is such a great shot, and it's completely ruined by the horrible HDR. Ask yourself this: why the fuck is there a big dark blotch on the tower of the building (which of course is one of the most interesting parts of the shot)? I know you see it.

You clearly know what you're doing with a camera...there's no excuse for sloppy processing.

I'm not sure number one needed HDR, it looks like a pretty enough day with fine enough lighting. The HDR makes it look unnatural. Try posting a version that hasn't been HDR'd for comparison later maybe?

Good photos, maybe the composition needs a bit of tweaking, but not much. Tone down the HDR.

As others have mentioned the HDR is a bit overdone, but for someone like me who's not the biggest HDR fan i think both of these are pretty good.

I am a sucker for HDR, so I think the use here was good.
I also like how the first photo gives a good sense of being overpowering.
3.5/5 stars

The Durango '95 purred away a real horrowshow - a nice, warm vibraty feeling all through your guttiwuts. And soon it was trees and dark, my brothers, with real country dark.

Tonemapping comments aside, watch your verticals. Remember that when you look at things like buildings they do not keystone.

Also, in the first one, who cares about that shrub? What does it have to do with the building? Why did you include it? These are all questions you should ask yourself. I find the shrub to be distracting from the building. Its like saying "HEY CHECK OUT THIS SHRUB oh and theres a cool building there too."

Oh, and furthermore, looks like the end of the building you were photographing faces south, or at least lit by the sun directly all day so the HDR is literally totally unnecessary. I'm guessing that you shot when the good light was gone and you were trying to compensate by bringing out more tones (or some other ass-backwards rationale).
