| | | I didn't see a NC specific Thread, so if there is one, please direct me to it. Otherwise, lets start one here because I know there are a good amount of us in the state. I'm located in Raleigh, and try to get out at least 3 times a week in the area. I'm getting a good feel for Raleigh, and am wanting to explore Durham then Chapel Hill shortly thereafter. I started a private group on Flickr, as well as a secret Facebook group called "Raleigh Unseen" in an effort to get a good solid group of people to start exploring with. People that can be comfortable in trusting each other to go to these places, take care of each other, and get some good pictures. If Anyone is interested in joining just shoot me a message. So, anyways, Hi -Ashes

| | | I guess I should go ahead and do kind of an intro here in the regional forums, since I'm new to the site. I live in Raleigh, and have been Urbexing for about 2 years... but only got very serious with it in the past couple months since I got my first DSLR. I like climbing things, and trying to get that shot that no one else would think to get. My other hobbies include playing drums, traveling, and cooking. Here are a couple of pictures i've taken recently in the area around raleigh, i'm sure you guys know the locations so I'll leave the names out: 1.
2.
3.
The hi-res versions/full sets can be found in my flickr account which is in my signature. Look forward to meeting a few of you in the near future. -Ashes

| | | What's up, Ashes. Good to have you! There's a good little group of us here in the Triangle, and we get out fairly regularly. I live in Durham, but go to NC State, so I do a lot in between both cities. Most of the other locals are out at a regional exploring meet-up this weekend, but I'm sure they'll introduce themselves eventually. Keep posting your stuff and you'll fit right in. -Avius http://www.flickr.com/avius

Yeah, 15 years ago it was pretty abandoned. Almost all the epic locations are chic retail outlets and high-end condos now, though. :p But there are still a few gems sprinkled throughout, if you look hard enough. I might be able to swing Monday afternoon, but the rest of the week is shot for me, I'm afraid.

| | | Monday Afternoon sounds good to me... Even if it's just to drive around and familiarize myself with the area. The only thing I know about durham is where The pinhook is b/c my band has played there.

| | | I'm from Charlotte, but spend a great deal of time skulking around Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. I climb things and crawl about in the underbelly.

| | | Can I go with you when you climb things over on my side of the state? Last time i was in chapel hill i saw some cool cranes and construction. Where do you hang out in Chapel hill? I find myself ending up at The Reservoir/Cave/Local 506 a lot. [last edit 1/18/2010 5:54 AM by Ashes in the Snow - edited 1 times]

Haha, no worries, man. Mascarah was an organizational force to be reckoned with, but then she up and moved back to PA. We've hardly done a local meetup since she left (We miss you too, Mascarah!). Anyway, I'm free around 4. A good spot for meeting up in Durham that we've used recently is the Waffle House at the hwy 55 Exit off I-40. It's the next exit after the 147 Durham Freeway.
