| | | I'm spending the weekend in Highland and Cashiers in NC. Does anyone know of any websites or anything to find any caves. I finally resorted to asking on here, because after trying to do research, I realized it is more difficult to find caves, because they aren't recorded as much as buildings.
Is 100% sure no one can be 100% sure. |

| | | Cavers are very protective of caves, which is why you'll almost never find cave locations online. All it takes is one dumbass getting hurt or destroying formations and the cave owner could close a cave forever. I'd be hesitant to explore an unfamiliar cave without a guide who knows the cave, or at least a good (recent) map. It's easy for even experienced cavers to get lost underground.

| | | I don't know if that area in NC has one, but I know East TN has two local grottos, which are caving groups. They may either share the information or suggest some people who would go with you. I do agree with tick. My uncle has been a caver for 30-40 years, and they are a secretive bunch due to many caves in the area residing on or only accessible through people's property. It only takes one jerk to get one closed off. One of my uncle's favorite small caves got closed off after several people the owner had allowed on her property got drunk and decided to donuts in her cows' pasture to celebrate going to the cave. She refused everyone access after that even though she had known my uncle and his group for over a decade.

| | | I would also love to find a cave or an abandoned mine in NC, but i'm aware that that will be near impossible without talking to the right few people. I've gone caving in East TN and loved it.
reckless thoughts abide; anachronistic and impulsive. loosely jacketed against the cold and ten thousand worlds for the choosing. |
