Week of (mostly) fail in the town the recession forgot

Spent a week down in Tennessee visiting my dad. Set out with grand plans of exploring lots of areas. Sadly, things didn't turn out like I had hoped. Bad weather, getting sick, and last minute changes in plans kept me indoors most of the week. I did a little scouting, but most of the places I remembered being abandoned as a kid were either gone or repurposed. If anything, there were more new construction projects than abandoned buildings in this quaint mountain town.

But, alas, lady luck finally shined on me, and I was able to get out and snap some shots as I snaked my way back home.

Sorry for the crappy quality of shots. I tinkered with my camera's settings, but I think I either have a shitty camera or I'm just clueless about how to set it up properly. Can't figure out how to make it not so grainy.

Old dealership that has been closed down since I was a kid...at least 10 years.

I peered through the windows, and got quite the shock. I guess someone was using this building after all:

Went to a local park for a walk through a winter wonderland. Couple of nature shots:

I didn't come here just for the exercise, however. After about 5 minutes of walking, my ultimate destination laid before me.

On a tip, I checked out one more location. After this shot, my camera's batteries died. Must return to get more shots.

That last pic. is the old paper mill. Last time I was there the police watch that place and workers work random times and days.

Another person has done a thing on it

There'd be a lot of happy salmon if more dams were built like that one, jeez a whole year and it got a plaque. Sarcasm?
