Photos from my first ventures in exploration

Hey, everyone. I have been very fortunate to go to several sites within my first few weeks of exploration. I've seem some wicked awesome things and thought I would share it with everyone. I'm very new to photography, so I know some of these may not be that spectacular, but what the hell.
DJ Craig was awesome enough to be my guide in my first experiences in urban exploration, and he was with me in each of these locations.

Lovely little topiary in the polyester factory.

Water treatment plant.

Glacial acetic acid... great for if you should run out of water.

An example of the incredibly stable flooring in the water treatment plant.

Elevator shafts in the flour mill.

Bagging machine in the flour mill.

Flour mill.

One of my favorite places, the powerhouse.

Coal hoppers in the powerhouse.

Top side of the coal hoppers.

My favorite place to explore so far, the nuclear power plant.

The abandoned effort to build a cooling tower at the nuclear power plant.

DJ Craig and I admiring the jungle that resides inside the plant.

Welcome! You have some great pictures at some incredible looking sites, I actually felt a bit of vertigo looking down that elevator shaft picture

Nice Work

Wow! these are some fantastic photo's gretschdiva! really. Welcome to exploring, I am new to it as well You have the eye for photography, the one with the old bottle and machinery is awesome, so is the last one with the running colors and nature growing in all over the floor. The 4th one is neat too, with the wooden flooring. Nice work

Elevator shafts in the flour mill.

Not elevator, Belt-o-vator, one of the coolest (existing) human transportation devices I know.

They are still made by Humphrey: http://www.humphrey-manlift.com/

Edit:
forgot to say that this is indeed a very good set!

Thanks, everyone, for the warm welcome and compliments! I feel rediculously lucky to have these places so close to me. Even before I knew what urban exploring was, places like these had "welcome home" signs on them. I just never could muster up the courage to explore them like I do now.
So that's a belt-o-vator shaft! I thought it was pretty awesome when DJ Craig showed it to me. I'm thinking it goes up two or three more stories above where I was when I took this photo. I would love to rappel down into it sometime just for the adrenaline rush.

Is there still power on in that last shot?!?

Softly creeping through

glimpsing history.

Nope. That's just sunlight coming through one of the openings on the other side. DJ Craig and I are actively planning to rappel into the belt-o-vator shaft. I'm so looking forward to it. More pictures are to come of that, in another thread of course.

I’m quite positive that you’ve slept with someone uglier than me, and I’m sure I’ve slept with someone hotter than you. So let’s just call it a draw.

Thanks, Oryx! I returned to the nuclear power plant a couple of days ago with DJ Craig. I plan on posting those new photos in either here or the Mid-Atlantic section. And as an update: rappeling down into that man-lift shaft is so on! Making plans for that already.
