|  | | | Have you guys ever ran into any trouble with construction workers? Last night a friend and I went into a fairly large site. We entered through the third story window by some scaffolding from the parking garage. We explored one floor but when we headed down to the second floor we walked into a large room and saw a worker walking the other way. We got out of there pretty quickly through a trash chute. I was just wondering if anyone has been confronted by any construction workers.

| | | | It has been my experience that construction sites can be risky.
1. Construction workers dont take lightly to trespassers, regardless if you look like some skinny dork with a camera or a tagger.
2. Its highly suspicious, especially since construction sites are common and easy targets for thieves.
Having said that, in the past I've only been run off. One time I was confronted by the forman, he started getting an angry tone with me and told me to leave, I quickly responded with "there werent and signs saying I should stay out", that made him more angry (especially since he didnt have a good response to that) then he proceeded to threaten calling the cops on me, so I left.

| | | | Construction Co.'s will get a huge fine for having somebody on site that does not have the proper safety equipment, and the proper safety training for that site. They usually control entry to the site very strictly, and will always have a gruff superintendant walking around acting like a big turd. It's one of his jobs to control who is onsite at all times.
Smaller companys are sometimes lax, larger ones have been fined before, and don't want it to happen again.
You can see a million miles tonite, but you can't get very far.

2. Look for camera's, motion sensors, on-site security and choose your route through the site carefully.
3. Don't post your pictures publicly on flickr and label them with the name of the project or building*

That being said if you aren't there to vandalize or steal if you are caught you are FAR more likely to be kicked out than arrested. Especially the farther into the site you are.
It doesn't look good on anyone (the company or security) if you make it past their defenses. Had a friend who made it throught 31 of 33 floors to be caught on the stairwell between 31&32 and kicked got off the property.

"Seeing as I got this far can't I just go the next floor up? I just wanted to get a photograph of the city from the roof? Can you escort me?"

| | | | One night down south, my friend and i made our way into a construction site of a 30 story highrise. We got to the top of the crane at about 550' high.. no workers present, only a sleepy guard.. winds were good. we put our gear on, and climbed on top of the counterweight. I was about to jump when a car pulled in to the lot where we were going to land.. no problem, until several other trucks pulled in.. the workers were showing up.. at 2:30 a.m.! We decided not to jump, and geared down.. we descended 150' of crane, then crossed back into the building.. down the stairs quickly, silently.. ground floor came, and we were trying to get off the property when the foreman saw us.. we took off running and he yelled profanities, then chased us in his truck.. we hid and got away eventually..

so a few weeks later, we talked to some of the people that work there, and went back up top early one morning after they cleared the way for us... we just went to the roof though, no crane.. then at 5:30 a.m., still dark outside, we jumped, in front of a crowd of 20+ workers.. they enjoyed the show! think about it, they spend their whole day trying not to fall off the building, and we show up purposely to jump!
i would like to come to d-ll-s soon to visit family, and jump the highrise you were in... plus a couple other things...
