Ive seen one of those ghost hunting shows do a story on this place, but it was several years ago. I hear its a pretty interesting place though.

It looks much cooler on TV than it does in real life. Unless you happen to be there on mud-boggin' day. Or the catfish tournament...

Basically, there are just a couple of rides and buildings remaining, and all are in very poor condition. The "lake" is mostly drained, except for a small pond occasionally stocked for fishing tournaments. The rest of the lake is -- seriously -- used for mud bogging. This is an active site, but I don't think anyone would object to someone stopping by to take pictures.

Thanks, thats pretty much what Ive read online and heard from others in the area. It seems there are only 2 rides left and a few inches of water they fish in. Doesnt really seem worth the drive IMHO.

I happened to be in Princeton working when I went by -- I know I would have been really upset if I'd driven that far for Lake Shawnee. There's other possibilities in the area, though.

I'm actually a paranormal investigator too, my group is called Mountaineer Paranormal...were based in Clarksburg, West Virginia.

A few years back we talked the owner into letting us do a ghosthunt on the property. He had claims of activity happening so we thought we'd check it out. While we were there..the front gate to the place swung open at our vehicles almost striking them. I got out of my car and tried the same thing by myself. The gate was so rusty I could barely move it..and I'm a fairly large man.

The location is really really neat on an urbex level..however the man that let us in...lives about 50 yards away from the property...and he is vicious..he will shoot! I don't suggest trying it without permission.
