Me and my friend who also just joined (milkyline) found a bunch of old broken down apartments. I have read its an old navy base quarters but the land has been sold to the county. The entire place is massive, you can spend hours exploring. We are looking for some experienced ue to take us out and show us around.

That's the Baldwin park barracks, I've done that one. As far as I know these aren't in Baldwin park.

Great pics though! You seem to know your way around the camera fairly well. I've been talking to your friend via email.

So I can finally post on the forums after the long 3 day wait! I just have to say that this place is amazing, both day and night, although it's eerie at night. I am looking forward to... attempting... to become a full member.

Looks like you're off to a good start. Keep driving around and exploring.

BTW, these are the enlisted men's quarters for the Air Force base/Navy Annex by OIA. The Baldwin Park Barracks are still standing a mostly sealed. 7 stories with a nice view of the area from the roof.

By the way, you guys should not hang around those buildings when its dry or windy, they are FULL of asbestos. There where many buildings, some near the road, they where used by the swat for practice, after they shot the place to hell the fire department used it to practice by setting them on fire. then when the hurricane came over they became a dumping ground for debris. This place was also a popular Paintball spot, because the backyards of the building where back to back each other, you could go from the 2nd story and shoot to the other house and so on.

There's probably 30% left of what it used to be, and whatever is left is NOT safe to be arround, that stuff is crumbling.

I've been going to this place since I was really young. They aren't used for anything anymore and they are not using it for Swat or Fire Training anymore. I would like to check out that barracks though! That sounds sweet. Do you think you could PM me about it?

I don't mean to double post, but I just noticed something. When you said Baldwin Park Barracks I thought you meant Baldwin Park as in by the international airport...

There's an actual park named Baldwin Park next to the old Navy Base of Tradeport/Southport. It's right next to Orlando International Airport.

Too many people know about this now. I was out there last night and there was a film crew filming a big movie, rednecks off-roading, and some other people there... All while it's pouring down rain, everyone is getting there cars stuck in mud...

It was a clusterfuck.

We were out there last night and met a bunch of kids from the UCF Film department, they drove a truck with over a million dollars worth of supplies out there, because they were shooting a "hell" scene, so we made some new friends.

There were also some rednecks out there, some of which I know. After most of the rednecks left- they were too drunk to stay any longer- one of the guys from the movie production got into an argument with a redneck because they weren't helping people get out of the mud and it escalated and it ended up with the redneck taking a movie production guy hostage at gun point and demanded $400. He got the money, but he'll be out there tonight again, so obviously the cops are waiting for them there.

It's all pretty crazy, because they found out about the place via this post.

The navy Built the Airport and the surrounding neighborhood. This is where the officers stayed, the higuer officers had houses, the rest where in the barracs.

The navy had a boming range just north west of the airport, that area now is a problem because there are many neighborhoods built on top of live, un-exploded bombs, and they even found a whole bunch of them in Odisey Midle school. Look it up its a big story. The Town of Orlando was name after an officer named Orlando, I think he died or something. There's a navy headquaters next door to this, you can see all the humvees and trucks from Google earth. in fact if you there you can also see where the firing range was.

last but not least, the story of the name of orlando, it talks about fort gatlin ( where the old NAVY sonar resonance facility used to stand, next the very round sinkhole)

http://www.cityofo...yclerk/history.htm

The most common story is about a company of soldiers on duty during the height of the Seminole Wars. After battling Indians back into the swamps on the east side of Lake Minnie (now Cherokee), the military troop settled there for the night. Sentinel Orlando Reeves was guarding the camp when he spotted a log floating toward him. Recognizing the Indian disguise and wanting to warn his fellow soldiers, he fired his gun. Arrows felled the poor fellow as the Indians came out to ambush the camp. The Indians were chased back again, and the south side of Lake Eola was chosen to bury Orlando Reeves.

not exactly military per se ( navy army, marines etc) but related. I'm no historian never claimed to be, its not to the smallest of details, but not made up either.

Sir... That school is nowhere close to where my pictures are located. In fact, it's about a 15 minute drive from it... Anyone ever heard of a store called Gamezone?
