I am too. But I'm not bumping for the lulz here, I'm thinking of giving this place a shot. Is it worth it? Is it not? Just heard about it today, and was wondering what other, wiser people than I had to say about it. (Edited for grammar.) [last edit 9/25/2010 12:17 AM by Johnny Mnemonic - edited 1 times]

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store. |

| | | I've googled, and I suppose that'd work, and I'd love to donate, but tours generally aren't my style. If there are tours going on, I'd assume they've beefed up security recently? Thanks for getting back to me so quick, especially on such an ancient thread. ;p

| | | I'm sorry, FW4, I didn't mean to bring up old ghosts... But like HarvestmanMan said, this is what exploration is all about. And I was about to respond to your unedited post, Happiedaze, I was actually wondering what the security and response of the owners would be. Depending on what people think of this place I might be headed out there soon. But yeah, I second Happiedaze's question, speaking of woodmens, anyone been there recently? | and take it a bit further: is it worth doing for artistic purposes? I have a photography assignment that I was told it'd be pretty good for, though the photos I've seen of it recently seem kinda blegh.

I've never been in the main building, every time I've tried going there, something happens. The first time, there was security or something that drove onto the property and sat there pointed at the place. We just waited until they left... then we left. The next time I tried I got in and saw a work van of some sort parked in the center of the buildings. It had a ladder on top of it... so I decided not to try it. Just seems like the place is watched closely, especially since their having a fundraiser there to try to raise money to restore it, I guess? I'm not sure what that's all about, but I think it would be a wonderful place to photograph if you had the time it took to set up your shots. Ya know what I mean?

| | | Yeah, I definitely know what you mean. I like places that aren't watched as closely for just that reason-- more freedom to set up shots. I know Swift would be wonderful for this project, but I don't really want to deal with the gangs and such that tend to hang out there on weekends. Hrm... I may just go through the DB and see what I can come up with. At some point I should put this place in there, when it's not crunch-time for class. :\

Your user name seems so familiar to me. I know the movie and all, but yeah. Did you come to one of the meets maybe? And what gangs are you talking about? I've seen kids and teenagers hanging out there, but I never felt threatened by them.

Yeah, I've been in and out of the community for a while, maybe two and a half years? I've been to a couple of meet-ups and DFW explorations, so I'm sure we've met IRL. And the only real reason I'd be concerned about Swift-bound gangs is that the cops who came over and said hi last time I was there mentioned that it's kind of a hotspot. Plus, some of the tags over there are from some of the less enjoyable cliques. [Spelling Edit] [last edit 9/28/2010 6:16 PM by Johnny Mnemonic - edited 1 times]
