I was going to point out the fact that the second to last picture almost looks like a mini-oven, but I didn't think it appropriate. ;)

I love the symmetry in the first shot - cemeteries are epic all around!

Is this an entirely Jewish cemetery or does it just have a Jewish section? I know of a few all-Jewish cemeteries in Toronto and I was wondering if this was one of them.

Its one of 11 jewish cemeteries in Toronto and I think the 2nd one consecrated. It has headstones dating back to 1885 (I actually did some research for this locale. I'm so proud of myself)

That's a lot of Jews! I never get a sense of a large Jewish presence in the city, so I'm not sure where you guys are hiding them all..

Like I said, good job. Nice shots and great location.

Also, woo Halloween!

Actually, that's a good point.

But 11 cemeteries?! I don't think there are that many Jews on Bathurst. Unless you're keeping them all underground...

Jewish cemeteries are really small actually. if you never been in one, it wouldn't be obvious, but its not like walking into Mount pleasant cemetery over by yonge that stretches over to bayview. There is a stretch along Roselawn that has about 5 of them , just behind the Belt Line drain storage tanks. Some even look abandoned and the tombstones are packed so tight you can't even get in.

They say "you can't judge a book by its cover!" I say "YES you can, if the cover has a girl on it with a cock in her mouth, its PORN!" if she's 18 and the cock is black, its GREAT porn!

Funny how this comes hot on the heels of this comment in another thread about DB entries:

Posted by sandaili.....Let's also question why there are so many cemetery sites in Canada. Do we really need cemeteries, and aren't they not allowed?

Go North on Bathurst between Eglinton and Lawrence. I used to live there, mostly Jewish and Italian folks.

Yeah from about Avenue going west to the Allen Expressway. Then like magic, everyone is Italian.

If I were to justify my DB entry to this person I would do so by informing them that this location is #1) not open to the general public and #2) I had to climb a barb wire fence to gain entry. If that ain't UE I don't know what is.

sounds UE worthy to me,

>>>>>>>>>>warning rant ahead<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

I do like old tombstones. The newer sections of cemetaries always depress me,
all the tombstones look "straight off the shelf" you can tell there are are only so many styles/shapes and symbols/fonts when you begin to see repetition.

The site marking you life on Earth and final resting place is so monotonous that it lacks all sense of individualism, If i were dead, I would be offended.
