Yep, I saw the Googlemobile on Queen East this spring, and the view of the street I just moved from was taken during the municipal workers' strike (determination based on the garbage and recycling pile at the side of my old house).

| | | The pictures of Hamilton were generally taken in the early spring of this year. I'd say between April-June. [last edit 10/7/2009 3:31 PM by Stewie - edited 1 times]

I'm thinking May-June. All the vehicles at my house are gone, meaning school was likely finished.

| | | I flipped the bird to one of their cars at Queen and Woodbine in June, 2009. Off to check if I made the cut... Edit: I'm there, but they took the photo before I managed to raise the single-finger salute. Oh well. [last edit 10/7/2009 4:25 PM by mortimer - edited 1 times]

| | | Why thankfully? They launched it for Montreal as well today. It'll come in handy for those times when I want to double check to see if a manholes are actually where my old city maps say they are. Or sometimes it isn't clear if a lid's out in the street, along a sidewalk or in the grass. Now I might not have to drive for 20 mins just to figure it out. I know.. it's sad that this is the only thing I'll ever use it for, isn't it?

The more I was just looking through it, the more I realized that yes, this will be very useful for finding manholes. You took the thoughts right from my head! My relief comes out of my personal feelings on being rather creeped out at the detail of ones personal property that can be viewed, so it was nice to see that my own street has not yet been included.

Wait, does that mean you haven't spent all morning trying to find me on Queen East? LBM, everyone's personal property that can be viewed online can also be viewed from public streets in real life (in much higher resolution), what's the big deal?
yep. |

Haha alright, well I am just slow then. I had never really used Google Earth to look closely at houses in particular, so this was all new to me. Edit: I need to stop taking so much cold medication.... nevermind. I am not making any sense, sorry. [last edit 10/7/2009 6:20 PM by mello - edited 2 times]

QFT. I don't understand the paranoia about online imagery. I'm a little upset that my property looks so... boring. I should add some lawn gnomes or something in preparation of the next image update.

| | | There's a fine line of privacy here. They're at least blurring faces and most license plates (it's based on an algorithm, some things seem to be getting through). If you're in public, and your picture is taken, that's too bad. If you don't want it taken, then stay home. On the other hand, if you've ever seen LBM's porch, you'll know why there's concern.

I'm thinking a little model train that run around the lawn on tracks making "woo-woo" and chugging sounds. Maybe some red flashing lights when it crosses the driveway?
