I spotted this place on my way home from Virginia last week, and pulled over for an hour or so to check it out. There were a few structures visible from the road, but it turned out to be even more spacious once I entered the perimeter. It looks like some sort of lumber mill/saw yard, and it had many interesting buildings, such as a few aircraft-hangar-sized ovens (I think) for drying the wood. Enjoy!

If the motors were on the same building the fans were in, i'd guess they powered those. The last shot is sweet

They are on the same building, but on the opposite end. I thought that too, at first, but the fans have their own motors. My best guess is that they may have something to do with the massive sliding doors.

True. That place is pretty sweet. I've never been, but I did go to the similar Devil's Tower in South Dakota.

My grandpa was the General Manager of this lumber company when it was formerly named Pat Brown Lumber company in the early or mid 60's.

I visited this location just yesterday with my grandfather and will be posting a more detailed thread about this locations history with photos. I have heard stories about this place from both my grandfather and my father since I was a kid.

Awesome! I'd love to know more about what went on there- I couldn't really find anything online.

This is an interesting looking place, I love places like this, especially stuff from the lumber and timber industry. Thanks for sharing.
