Thanks to any and all who firmly believe im not a cop.

i will say i apologize since it appears my peaked interest in this thread and possibly the hobby all together has lead to such a controversial thread.

however Ive said it once and ill say it again i am no cop. just a young, still teenage adult looking for some experienced help searching through my first abandoned building. simply cause im honestly a little chicken haha and obviously a noob. a big one, with no problem admitting so

Luckily i got bored in class today and decided to re read my topic, i had kinda decided to not return due to the fact i got little useless info (though appreciated) and i didn't feel to welcomed with all the cop stuff however. it was refreshing to see some people still thought i wasn't.

If you search through the abandoned threads, you may come across the remains of the last teen00ber who came across the forum. Let's call him "seafood". And let's just say that our interactions with him have not been entirely positive.

If I may be so bold, I would say that you have already distinguished yourself as being much more mature than "seafood":

* You acknowledged your lack of experience
* You didn't get all p!ssy because we pointed it out
* You didn't start acting like you were teh 1337 xpl0r@r so we'd give you pr0ps
* You've demonstrated an ability to put up with our razzing & harassment

For whatever it's worth, I'm looking forward to your contributions. Start posting some pictures, even if it's just exteriors of interesting buildings, and see what happens.

I've gotta give you some credit for being good spirited throughout this thread. I think you'll find that once you bite the bullet and go to your first abandonment, take pics, and post them here in a mediocre thread, you'll be welcomed with slightly more opened arms.

P.S. - What kind of gas mileage does your police cruiser get?

Thew nerve of some people!
Showing up here uneducated in our cliquish hierarchy and protocols, trying to start conversations and stuff! There are only a few ways to enter.

1) Introduce yourself and sit quietly in the corner and observe our grandness for a few months until we address you.

2) Post interesting photos of some place you've explored and then sit quietly in the corner and observe our grandness for a few months until we address you.

3) Enter, as you have, honestly and respectfully and suffer through and graciously accept the ensuing onslaught of taunts and accusations that are sure to follow. Then sit quietly in the corner and observe our grandness for a few months until we address you.

4) Post photos of your hot girlfriend, sit quietly in the corner and observe our grandness for a few months until we address you.

I'm a blatant waste of time and resources.

Anxiously awaiting fulfillment of BK's Requirement #4.

As for the mall -- any signs of impending doom, such as the "We Could Wreck The World / Jesus Saves" trailers? That place *can't* last much longer, with all the nearby development.

For your next project, I recommend a drain. You know, get your feet wet. [rimshot] There are some doozies in Dallas, though we don't have much that can compete with the old industrial cities up north in terms of architecture. I'm thinking of suggesting a drain exploration as the extracurricular activity after the meetup in a couple of weeks (which you should attend -- we only bite online).

yea a hell of a lot of construction right down the road on either end of the mall, however that stuff isn't set to finish for years, so maybe the mall will last.

although its seriously dropped since the other thread about it (late 2005) http://www.uer.ca/...d=3&threadid=22240 some nicer pictures

I'm thinking of attending the DFW meeting, i got a email about it, but you guys wouldn't want my copness there The real reason being it sounds like i might not fit in (being young and all) and i might have work etc. but im def considering it

Is this really happening?

Gotta admit, that one cracked me up.

SirClassic-

Best advice I can give you--and I can see you're already headed that way--is to come to a meet & greet. Aside from being fun, it gives the regulars a chance to place a face with the handle. Explorers are suspicious by nature, so message board introductions are usually awkward.

Give it time. Keep posting pictures. Hope to see you in Deep Ellum in a couple of weeks.

Been away a lot lately boys and girls. Wife had surgery 3 weeks ago, vacation before that, work sucks, blah blah blah. Hopefully I'll be back on a more normal UER schedule as of today if things keep going better.

Welcome to UER. You posted some pictures of the mall, thats a good first step. Keep a sense of humor and don't become a shit ass because people tease you a little, it's kinda like a hazing tradition. As long as it's good natured.

And last, the most important step is Barry's #4 suggestion. I would get started on that right away. Revealing shots sent to your friendly moderator will get you advanced to full member within minutes.

Liquor, I'm back to a sorta normal routine now. I'll try to hook up with you soon. Provided the cops don't find out.

Yes, you will be able to add them later on. In the meantime, most folks who are just staring out post their pictures in a thread, like this one.

Liquorhead, most of the UE kids, like myself, just wear bermuda shorts and a sleveless T-shirt. It'll be nice to have you along though. It gets tough sometimes carrying my walker up hills.

Yeah, they do, but it's the young hot babes mostly. Just can't keep their hands off me. I think it's the chrome plated wheel release on my Homedic Walker! Damn chicks!
