I've been into the entrance by the old train station (was an art store when I left town), but I didn't make it that far because my friend and I mistook a deer skeleton for a human one (the head was missing and the ribcage and pelvis look remarkably similar in dim light) so we ended up not being able to go any deeper because we were young and stupid. The going theory is that Bum's Tunnel runs under chunks of the town. I had a friend who lived in an old house that swore up and down there was a boarded over entrance to the tunnel in his basement. Don't know if I believe that or not. But I've also heard from several people that the tunnel runs from the old station all the way out to where the new Wal Mart is. I went looking for the entrance out by there, but never found it. It's probably some random rabbit hole in a corn field over there. There's all kinds of stories about the tunnel, but I've been able to find very little substantiated evidence. My guess is it connects to the sewer and is in all actuality just an overgrown storm drain, but you never know. I've known people that swear blind that it was used to hide ex-slaves in the underground railroad, but I kind of doubt that one. Either way, it has some pretty good urban legends surrounding it.
