| | Spent the day at an old wrecking yard < on 8/8/2009 1:24 AM >
| | | Yesterday I was out cruising all over the place scouting out things to photograph. Nothing really caught my eye so I hopped on highway 2 and started to head home. I cruised past Newcastle and through Newtonville and remembered there was an old auto wreckers that dates back to the 1940's right up the way, but I wasn't even sure if it was still open. I stopped in and sure enough the was an older fella hanging out in the old garage with his buddies talking shop. I swear when I walked in this place I traveled back in time. There's a glass counter stacked with vintage hood ornaments and and grill emblems. The garage area was the old school walk down pits, no lift here. So I greet the guy, tell him I like to take pictures as a hobby, and asked him if I could tour around the yard and take some shots. He was totally cool with it but proceeded to tell me there wasn't much out there as the ministry of the environment swept in two years ago and made them get rid of some 2000 classics, apparently they figured they were a hazard to the environment after sitting there rotting, some since the 1940's, you'd think whatever damage was done wasn't gonna get any worse, but oh well. Anyhow, it was a cool day, felt like a little kid exploring all these cars and trucks, most that I had never even seen before. Here are a few of my favourite shots, and a link to the slide show. Enjoy! Also the 2 tow trucks still work!!! They use the small one on a regular basis, and the big International was last fired up a month ago and used to move some cars around!!
Here are my favourites
if you enjoy these, feel free to check out the slideshow!
