Avius explores the Rockies part 3: Humphrey School

Greetings from the Mid-Atlantic! Last week, I did a long road trip from the Salt Lake City airport, up the spine of the Rockies, to the Glacier/Waterton National Parks for my wife's family reunion. (Airports with cheap, direct flights are kind of sparse out here, eh?) I got to explore a few places along the way, and I'll post them in their respective regional forums.

I saw this as I was cruising at 80mph up I-15 and immediately swerved off the road to check it out. Later research indicates that it was the school for Humphrey, ID, and was closed down in the 1940's. It has obviously been used for various agricultural purposes by the local ranchers in the intervening decades.

2. Beautiful front entryway. The only door is on the second floor, for some reason. To avoid 10ft. snow drifts, maybe?

Time definitely has not been good to it. I don't see the place lasting much longer in that condition. Great shots nonetheless.

I've passed this building years ago on a trip from Bozeman, through Virginia City, and back to Boise. I've seen it on the web too, but the shots were not as good as your's.

Thanks!

Yeah, my father-in-law, who is most definitely NOT an explorer, said he knew the place, so I figured a lot of the locals had probably seen it before. Never hurts to get a few new shots of an old favorite, though!
