| | | I haven't posted anything in awhile, so I thought I'd share my favorite shots of my explorations over the past month or two. I'd like to hear some pretty critical review, these are probably the best shots I've taken and I would like to improve. 1. Abandoned Subway:
2. Rooftop:
3. Random Abandoned Building:
4. Brewery:
5. Brewery Interior:
6. Ammunition Plant

| | | I like the first and sixth, can't go wrong with these strong leading lines. Second seems a little bland, not really clear its ruined. Third is HDR? Needs less orange, more contrast, and also more sharpness I think. Fourth is shot with fish-eye? I don't like the distortion, or poor focus at the edges. Fifth seems a little bland- not sure what I'm supposed to look at- just a picture of a room.

| | | With 3 I feel that you should just up the blue a bit in the windows (the glass only) just a tad and increase the sharpness a bit.

| | | I'll just address number 1. If you could provide details about how you lit this scene, I think that would be helpful. The image strikes me as a bit flat-it's not terribly flat, but the wonderful texture in the walls and ceiling isn't emphasized. I'll take a wild guess as to how you lit it, with one of those uber-torches. If this was the case, keeping it close to the sides of the tunnel creates little shadows behind every bump which makes for good visual contrast and a really interesting image.

| | | These all suck. You need to go back to HDR 101.
I kidd...

| | | I think #2 has the most potential, but needs some rooftop cropped out. The geometric shapes in it coupled with the organic colors and blurred form is tops.

| | | Thanks for the comments everyone, except seicer who is now going to be clone stamped out of #2. To address some of the info asked about: 1 is actually daylight, the portal is about 50 feet behind me and mostly open. The comments have encouraged me to go back and try different lighting techniques for the same shot, the next time I get the chance. 3 and 5 are HDR's via Photomatix, and 6 is one of my first attempts at layering 3 exposures in Photoshop and trying to get the HDR effect manually. 3 was tough because the room was really orange, and only lit by street lights off in the distance. I may try to manually merge the exposures in this one too, rather than using the HDR, and see if it looks better... As for 4, it is actually 6 shots stitched together, not a fisheye. It was very dark that night and tough to focus. The back shots are just out of focus and I tried to salvage what I could. Focusing at night has always been a problem for me.
