| | | In 1782 this cotton spinning mill was believed to be the first machine powered factory in the world. A century later the building was bought by Paton. They ran a shoelace factory. By 1990 the factory was left abandoned. Its future is still unsecure. when: march 2009 with: Bartje (www.urban-travel.org )

| | | Hey man, long time no critique... #1, it's okay as part of a set to show the exterior of the location, though as a stand-alone photo there's nothing 'special' in it to keep my attention long. #2, I have a glare coming in my window at the moment so everything is dark, though this one still seems too dark for me even when I block the glare. I really like the rest of the set, especially #3.
Oh, and to critique your 'newer' avatar image, I love it! Great choice. "How long could we maintain? I wondered. How long until one of us starts raving and jabbering at this boy? What will he think then? This same lonely desert was the last known home of the Manson family; will he make that grim connection when my attorney starts screaming about bats and huge manta rays coming down on the car? If so, well, we'll just have to cut his head off and bury him somewhere, 'cause it goes without saying that we can't turn him loose. He'd report us at once to some kind of outback Nazi law enforcement agency and they'll run us down like dogs. Jesus, did I say that? Or just think it? Was I talking? Did they hear me? "

| | | Thanks Nobody! Thank you Trent! #2 should not be that dark except from the bottom left. nothing special in #1? I love it, that classic factory look is not something i see everyday, it's disappearing slowly, but i guess you are right and the photo itself holds nothing special in particular. ....oh and Hunter Thompson rules!!!

| | | Photo's are EPIC matey! You captured what's there really well and black and white totally works for this place. The building is just a shell now after Pikeys stripped the lot a few months ago. If I've any critique it's this: It's William Paton Mill and 'Scotland' is way more specific than 'UK' for the location. I'd say the Eiffel Tower is in 'France' rather than 'Europe' - even though both are totally correct, hey? But that's not really photography critique so probably doesn't count!
Chris...
We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit. |
