I'll be back at the end of the month on my way home and then Cocoa Beach FL, there is a site down there to check out. I'll check it out after work one day.

| | | | They have been talking about sealing up that place for at least 5 years. The last few times I have been, I did not even bother to take my camera out of my bag. Even before the overkill of vandalism, it was a pretty boring place. The power plant is by far the most interesting part of the grounds.

Officials in Staunton have completed work to prevent vandalism at a historic building. (Aaaaaand... by the way, this is only because they don't QUITE have enough money to completely raze it to the ground.) |
They should just come out and say it was a legal liability instead of pretending like their motives have anything to do with preservation or history.
I know it was kind of lame compared to a lot of other abandoned mental institutions, but I'm really glad I made it up there before all this went down.

That lady should have taken photos of her kid there... Does anyone worry about asbestos? If its one time I think we would be cool, but most of us are going to these places over and over... I worry a little about it but I dont know how to protect myself. Any advice is welcome, thanks. 
(I would have probably stopped by if I had extra time when visiting my boyfriend for this place. It would be a five hour drive for me as well, but not if I were in VA.)
