| | | Hey, I know I don't normally post here, but a friend and I just recently explored Dejarnette and Western State, thought I'd post some pics. I don't mean to thread hijack, I just don't want to make a third Dejarnette thread. Thanks guys.

| | | There is a crude diagram of the building on the second floor that has the "morgue" in question labeled as "cadaver".
Buildings have two natural enemies- water, and bears. |

You fail at morgue identification. That's a shot of the hydrotherapy point shower I was talking about, captain.
|
Actually, I know many people that worked at this hospital and I'll tell you what they told me. They just called it the morgue, sometimes they would let the go in there and play.

Well seeing as I recall finding a shuffleboard outline on the floor outside the bathroom you are referring to, I am hoping you mean "play" in the court area. Not in the bathroom. And as a followup to your followup asking what people thought about your morgue shots, they're awful.

| | | I was actually at Dejarnette last week. I haven't seen any clean up activity yet, and the site itself was really interesting. It's in pretty bad shape, but the "Hall of the Super Hero's" mural is still intact, and as far as I can tell the hobo is still there in room 408. I'd post some pictures but I'm not a photographer and they're a lot of blurry hallway shots of stacked up bed frames and peeling paint. I'd been wanting to explore the site since 2004 when my family came to Staunton on a mini-vacation. Me and my dad had walked around the outside a few times in the past, but this past weekend was the first time I went inside. Overall it was really cool, but I think I missed some of the more out of way rooms. I mainly explored along the main corridors and the North and South side stairwells of both wings. Has anyone ever gotten onto that one non-meshed in balcony that faces the back?

| | | DB - When I was there there was no security. A few moments before I climbed over the gate a cop passed, but he wasn't looking in my direction (lucky me). Staunton doesn't have a ton of cops, and I don't think that they're spending all their time keeping local kids away from the building. I also went on the weekend of their big 4th of July parade, so that probably played into it.
Alex - Yeeeah....I should have taken a picture, but it was room 420, formerly room 408. There was the guy's matteress, food supplies, cardboard sign, etc. I was assuming he was the one that propped open a lot of the stairwell doors.
