This was a trip that Rusty Meathook and I took last week. Somehow we managed to take a very long way to get there, and were very relieved when we finally arrived. The place has pretty much lost all signs of the camp that it used to be, but leaves behind the tales of the Islamic University. This location of the university was vacated in 2008.
Administration Building
As soon as we showed up, there were a couple kids throwing rocks at this building. I immediately set up my tripod and aimed my camera at them, and they left in a hurry. Of course, I didn't take any pictures of them. This building was so clean and freshly painted looking. Very little decay, just a lot of smashed glass and general vandalism.
The (Burnt) Classroom Building/Auditorium
This one was clearly just a shell, but there were some rooms that managed to escape the fire. Also, the chalkboards have been turned into a non damaging tag wall for local teens and explorers. Saw a couple people from the site tagged here.
The Girl's Dormitory
This one was in pretty good condition, but otherwise trashed. There was a lot of girls clothing laying around. Very small rooms, I have no idea how THREE girls fit/got along living in there without murdering each other.
Cafeteria
Smelled of curry and old incense. There was couscous, noodles, flour and what looked like soya sauce strewn everywhere. The one bathroom had a huge pile of flour in it. The dry pantry was still fully stocked with canned goods and a vast supply of oatmeal cookies. There were Christmas Cracker boxes EVERYWHERE. Not just in the cafeteria, but in one of the storage buildings as well.
The Family Dormitory
This was the only building we were in that had 2 floors. It was some pretty sweet digs compared the boy's or girl's dorms. The rooms were pretty normal sized bachelor apartments. We didn't care go up into the crawl space. Also, after living in a giant house full of other people's screaming children, I don't blame whoever was using the Depo-Provera. The one room above, we were pretty sure had been inhabited until recently. There was evidence of someone squatting there.
We also ventured into the Boy's Dorm, pretty much similar to the girl's, but somehow wasn't quite as interesting. They had left behind a crap load of shoes, though. The storage building was full of lockers, desks, old broken computers, other various furniture, and a street lamp. There was something that seemed like a garbage building across from the cafeteria. Rusty opened the door and squealed like a girl when a mouse jumped out. There was puled of garbage beyond the door, and we chose not to venture. but around back of the building, we looked in a door that we couldn't get open and saw a lab/science room. Couldn't get in, or we didn't try very hard. There was also a Gymnasium, which we really wanted to get into but couldn't. It was pretty sealed up. And a Library as well.
We would love to go back sometime and try to conquer the buildings that we left behind.

| | | | The amount of vandalism and fires that have occurred here since February is ASTOUNDING. When I visited in February things were more or less still salvagible. Now, forget it. But that's what the developer/owner wants. They want as many arsons as possible. Nice tour, KarmaKitten & Rusty Meathook!

I was more concerned about why it was there in the first place, since it is supposed to be injected by a doctor. Although, I suppose one does have to pick it up from the pharmacy themselves and bring it to the doctor. *shrug*
But as for the crackers, I have no damn clue, we were trying to figure it out ourselves. Especially since there were thousands everywhere.

I've been there on 2 occasions and I love the left over clothes in the girls dorm, I've tried to get into the kitchen area 2 times but could not find the POE. I've been in the girls and mens and family dorm's. I could not capture it all in the 3 hours I was there, I do plan a return trip! Awesome set!

I found one other interesting thing I think it was in the basement of the cafeteria or something but it was a couple of skids of Henna.
I am surprised that the gymnasium was sealed up because we were there a few weeks ago and the front door was wide open. I'm glad it was too because I thought it was the most interesting building on the property. It had fire damage too but it was mostly superficial, unlike the classroom building.

Yes, it closed only in 2008. I did notice that the website still listed the address to this place, but I believe they have another location that is still fully active somewhere in Toronto?
As for the skids of Henna, we were in the basement of the cafeteria for a few minutes and didn't notice one. There were a few boxes in various locations on the grounds where Henna had been spilled everywhere and the boxes lay empty. If I had noticed the skid full of them, I may have been tempted to break a UE rule and take a box for myself. I love Henna, I surely would have drawn all sorts of unartistic stuff on myself LOL!

As for the gymnasium, I had seen pictures of the inside before, so I know there have been times when it was accessible, but I guess they recently reboarded it up. We had a hard time getting into the boy's dorm too, as it had also recently been sealed up more. We should have gone back and put as much effort into getting into the gym as we did the dorm.
