Anyone in the Columbus area know what's going on with Germain (formerly Polaris) amphitheater? I know it closed, supposedly because the neighbors complained about the noise, but what have they done with the site?

Hey everyone it's 1 am here in Columbus and I just got home from the amphitheater and I got a ton of pics I'm just really tired right now so I'll have to post the story and pics tomorrow. Oh and that's great now I see there's a link to a site that has pics. Oh well I had a really good time there today anyway. Here's a few of the 100+ pics I took until tomorrow. PS The whole placed was completely trashed.

Update 7/2/09 the son of the owner of the amphitheater has asked me to take down these pics. Sorry

Wow! Thanks so much for the pics & link! I went to a bunch of shows there back in the '90s & early 2000's - Phish, DMB, Farm Aid - I really got to get down there and check it out!

I know I should be way past the point of being surprised that something is abandoned, but this location really blew my mind. It's in a very nice part of Columbus, was relatively recently built (15 years?), and was successful up until a few years ago. That and it being left open to vandals is pretty shocking.

And hello to a fellow Phish fan

When I try to post pictures on here they always turn out to small or to big so I have posted a lot of them on my Myspace page here's the link please check them out and tell me what you think there are also a lot of other pictures on there from past adventures there all listed under UER. http://www.myspace.com/jays300e 7/1/09 I went down there in person to check the place out. There is now 24 hour guards there. They haven't been there long they were recently hired after pictures showed up online showing how bad the place had been trashed by vandals and scrapers they said the owners son found the pics online and needless to say they were more than a little mad they are estimating $10,000,000 worth of damages to the place you can see in some of my pictures that the stage has been set on fire as well as several buildings that burned all the way down. Anyway I asked if they would mind if I walked around and took some pics and I could already see it in there faces that they were going to say no but at the same time I put my hand out to shake the one guards hand with $20 in it we shook and he looked and said be careful there's a lot of broken glass in some spots. So away I went I must have been there 3 hours walking around taking pics. I saw everything from the dressing rooms and back stage to the roof of the stage to the offices and concessions stands and security throw some people on 4 wheelers out. I guess they didn't have 20 bucks lol. All in all it was a pretty cool day and all this time I had no clue at all that only 5 minuets away from my house that place was abandoned. On a side note I saw Aerosmith there in 1994 when I was 14.

Sorry everyone I had to make my Myspace private again because some a$$hole went to my page and reported one of my pictures and that's really messed up seeing as I have seen a lot and I mean a lot worse and even more sick pictures on this site that are still up. My picture was a overflowing toilet from the abandoned Central Square Bank in Houston and it had a interesting story to go along with it but yeah it was pretty sick. But If anyone wants to see the Amphitheater pics send me a PM. Thanks

Make a private photobucket album or a full members only DB entry something?

Just tossing out ideas.
