Abandonned Defence Housing (Adelaide / South Australia)

Following this thread:

I decided to check this location out. When lunch came around at work today I jumped into my urbex-mobile and took off for a brief lunchtime adventure.

I scouted the perimeter of what appeared to be an entire suburban street completely fenced off. Some sections were surrounded with high barbed fences, whilst the rest were surrounded with standard housing fences. Signs were posted everywhere warning "Commonwealth of Australia -- Trespassing Prohibited". One conveniently marked the location of an entrance!

Walking into the backyard of the first house I immediately noticed the boarded-up windows. Getting inside is definitely going to be tricky. I walked to the front yard and gazed down the street. It was like a scene out of an apocolyptic movie; rows of houses with nobody around.

It was an eerie sensation walking through this deserted suburb, entering whichever property caught my eye. I was very cognizant of the signs posted outside, and of my limited time.

As I walked into the backyard of one place I saw two people dart towards the back fence. It scared the crap out of me! It was a couple of kids. Their backpacks were making clanking sounds as cans of paint rattled around inside. They stopped briefly to look in my direction -- they must've started to run due to the noises that I was making opening the side gate. I can only imagine what was going through their minds; they were definitely spooked. A few seconds later 4 more hooded youngsters darted towards the back fence...then 2 more again! There was an entire posse of these little "artists" back there. Have the school holidays started already?!

I didn't manage to get inside any of the houses as they were well sealed. However, there were signs that people had tried. The area doesn't look like it's been abandonned for very long as the houses still seem to be in fairly good shape. I've got no idea how long this empty street will remain before it's bulldozed. It was definitely some of the best fun I've had on a lunch break!

Oh my god, I am so jealous Thankyou so much for sharing the pics, now I'm really really really wanting to get in there, though if I ran into anyone in there I'd prolly faint I'm going to have to find a way to do it these school holidays. Thankyou so much for the pics.
