| | | Posted by willskith You are all guilty. This is constantly a big debate in the northeast forums but the link posted in the other Firestone thread proves it. "Urban Explorers" kill their own locations. By posting the names of locations in public space for the world to see brings attention to the fact that there are loads of people going into these off limits and dangerous places like its no big deal. Sure everyone knows about Firestone, but that doesnt make it appropriate to post your photo threads from there with the place's name, making it easy to find by security/workers/police etc. Talking about these places casually is what killed many of our regions famous asylums. So go ahead and keep outing all the info on your favorite places like nothing will happen. Just dont cry when security gets upped or the place gets demolished because its deemed a safety hazard.

Firestone was no secret, but no on really noticed its relevance to things until people started getting caught doing dumb shit like model shoots in the middle of the day...during the week. Ask anyone from Hamilton and it was like their brickworks. I think your right. People on this regional forum never post revealing info for shitty houses and barns, but yet do of big industrial location...full name, address, etc. This is probably because the houses are the only things these people have found and the other locations they just heard about so they didn't earn it the same way as finding their own spots. Same rules would apply you think, no? Obviously not. Preach all you want, all you get in the Ontario forum is tons of ho-hum secret houses and lots of OMGOMG tower, bunge, firestone, hearn, etc, threads. Sometimes with my favorite "has anyone been inside that giant building at X and Y corner". sigh. [last edit 6/26/2009 3:52 PM by Air - edited 1 times]

Its all you get anywhere. In the northeast forum people post threads with the locations names as well, and then when the place gets locked down or demolished they start to bitch and cry as if we didn't deserve it. Security at an infamous hospital in CT recently had some of the tunnels illegally collapsed to deter explorers for the same reason that Firestone is being torn down: people talked too much. Sometimes I wish UER were a building so I could burn it the fuck to the ground.

| | | Posted by KarmaKitten I thought it had been revealed the reason they are cracking down on explorers and what not is because some morons tossed about the idea of SCUBA DIVING in the flooded basements.... HUGE liability, and in my opinion is what screwed it for the rest of us.
|
it was a fucking joke. Scuba diving? like really? Scuba diving? If you cannot see where thats a huge fucking joke then get the fuck out. IF anyone, recycling tech, city worker, owner, explorer thinks that people are going to scuba dive in firestone, i want them to have a long burning painful death because they are retarded.
