lucky find: an abandoned hospital.

Funny story actually... I was going on a trip north to pick something up and wasn't planning on any exploring at all but on the way I had an urge to stop and grab some batteries for my light meter and a roll of film. Just as well because an overgrown building caught my eye after I took a wrong turn and I had to check it out.

If this is the one in Kittery/Eliot it's in the DB.

I actually found this a little past the Hawaii state line, and I would have no idea. Not a full member...

Hahaha. This place sucks.

And it actually wasn't a hospital, it was a nursing home. I'm not sure how long it's been abandoned, but clearly the kids in town have nothing better to do than come here, tear shit up, and drink Natty Ice. I do like the roof here though.

And yep, this one's in the DB, like FM said.

Also, it sounds so weird to hear someone from NH call a trip to Kittery "going north", haha. When I think north, I think at least Portland. Kittery is only about 15 minutes from me.

Eh, I didnt think it was too bad... It was neat finding it but yeah, not too much stood out... unless you especially enjoy tiptoeing through the soggy insulation and broken glass decor or finding out too late that someone broke open a bag of hand sanitizer and turned the 2nd floor showers into a slip-n-slide, haha. Would have been much more enjoyable if I had brought a tripod tho...

As for 'going north', I didn't know how well known this place was so I was just being vague.

Maine, my bad haha. Thats what I get for doing two things at once, either that or I need to catch up on my geography! And speaking of which, I didn't know where/what town other than I got off at exit 2. Guess we can all now agree that was Kittery?

Yep, this place is in Kittery, right near the York border.

When my mom worked at York Hospital back in the early 90's, she said this place used to send a lot of residents to the hospital to die. Apparently it was a hell hole back when it was open, too. She said they got residents from the Harbor Home, as well, but to the best of my knowledge that place is still open.

And yeah, that insulation is disgusting. Even better when it's February and it's completely iced over!

There's frequently vehicles parked there . . kittery is about a half hour for me .. north. It's parallel with about as south in NH as you can get

Didn't someone back a truck up to that place awhile ago and steal a bunch of crap?

Yeah, I've only been here once when there weren't cars parked in the lot. I don't know where all of the occupants of the cars end up, though, since there really isn't anything within walking distance that would make sense.

Also, here's the story about the burglary: http://www.fosters...JNEWS_01/462704890

Hey I used to live in Epping . . back then I heard rumors some folks still were using outhouses, but never saw one in person.

Gotta keep an eye out for crazy bums and scrappers in alot of places.

Nice find.
Looks gloomy for Hawaii.
Must be one of those 10 gloomy days per year.
Which island is this on, if I may ask??
