Green Gables - My experience

So. The home is now long and gone, but I feel that I'd like to share my story and pictures. Considering I can't add to the database yet, this will do.

I drove down beach blvd fairly often for work. I had always noticed the place as a kid, I mean, it just stuck out so much. All of the random stuff sitting out-front. For the longest time I had not known what it was until the place was abandoned. I went alone for this, at this time the antique store part was ripped away and all that was left was the home. The blue fencing had gone up, not too much of an obstacle. While I was inside I had noticed some other people on the other side of the fence taking pictures. They saw me, I waved. Nothing too bad! The place had so much to look at. So many old books, old toys, pictures, letters, magazines, gadgets. I spent a good two hours. I had only gone on the first floor. I couldn't get the basement door open with ease and well, what upstairs? By the looks of it, it had collapsed. Maybe I did go upstairs, I can't remember! Sheesh.

When I was leaving I saw the neighbour out doing some kind of yard work. Either way, I had asked him about the man who had lived here. He really didn't have too much to say and came off as an angry 'ol fart. Sadly the place is now gone, an empty lot - a place for those 'nice' new housing developments (They're made out of paper, honestly).

I took a souvenir too. Well, two. One was a Pogo-puci stamp book (some cool comics by Walt Kelly) and a Green Gables kindergartner pencil (The big ones!). I know, I know, do not take - but I could not resist!

I had to rip the pictures off my dA and Photobucket. Suffered numerous hard-drive fails between then and now.

That was a great place before it was demolished. I'd been there once and it was still full of all sorts of... well, everything. It's already up on the database though, but could always use more pictures!

Really liked 2 (I'm turning into a sucker for books left behind) and 3 (color of the door vs bricks).

I'm still sad that is is gone,I'd been there several times too. I remember the tiny aisles, and stuff jam packed to the ceiling in some parts. As a kid,I used to wonder what the owners were going to do if someone wanted something at the very bottom of the piles.

I really miss that place. Not really the place itself as much as the person that took me there so many times. Although the house was really awkward...
