last weekend i felt like driving up to the town i grew up in. (its only about an hour and a half from where i live now) i remembered a mill that had been closed since atleast the 70s. when i lived in town it was planed to be used as a shopping mall type place. (now in 2009 theres one store in a building on the site with moving sale signs in the window, hah)..

next stop, the malls
no pictures the rest of the day was just to remember the town.

went to both of the town malls, 1st one had only one restaurant in the mall and two offices in the end. it was a small mall it had space for maybe 20 stores top.
the other mall was a full size town mall with pink 80s decor, but had maybe 5 stores inside and 2 department stores: kmart and JCpennys.

also, no movie theaters, all 3 i remember where closed

the rest of the town
no people in the streets, at the public pool, in the mall(maybe 10), only cars driving around. a bunch of cars, seemed like no people though.. hmm...

the home i grew up in
GONE. :'(

when i lived in the town it had a real "community" feel to it, and alot of people and full malls, and dreams and hopes and shit..

now it looks as the place is nose diving.

A lot of small town are having this problem. The place I grew up used to be a booming jewelry manufacturing town, we also had a giant Texas Instruments plant that employed almost half the town. The problem is all the jobs went to China or Mexico (I actually trained non-english speaking Mexicans how to do my job at Texas Instruments). Now the town consists of mostly empty store fronts and abandoned factories. The only thing it has going for it is it's on one of the most popular MBTA lines in the state.

Here's a shot from one of the abandoned train stations (only half of it is abandoned)

If I was really created in God’s image then when God was a boy he wanted to grow up to be a man, a good man, and when God was a man, a good man, he started telling the truth in order to get honest responses.

Your old town sounds fun place to be =/. 1 restaurant in the mall is struggling. I lol'd at JC Pennys and KMart.
