Well I have to say that for the most part I have not had any issues. I pick times when they are out foraging or hitting a feeding station. Some are mentally ill and some of them live this as a lifestyle. Some are truly homeless - meaning they are on bad times and are working their way out. Atlanta has perhaps the highest percentage of mentally ill homeless. Some buildings I have been in had at least 30 or more people in them (but just not all there when I strolled in).

I don't go into a building full of homeless at night or sneak around. I also make a lot of noise and generally act like I own the place. Common sense goes a long way. A burger, smokes, and beer can go a long way - but I never want to be seen as feeling sorry for them or a food source. If they act straight with me then usually I can help out. The ones that act straight I help put to work. Never go alone even if nobody lives there (duh). I only carry a mag light - no guns, lasers, knives, grenades, or ninja swords. If you act lost or scared you might just have someone get frisky on you. Also learn how to spot the criminals from the homeless. The thugs I am scarred of have a place to live but prey on other people. I usually don't talk a lot with these guys and keep moving. I also like to circle a building and know my way OUT.

Funny thing is that because of the fact I had to start over again from a near death illness I may be homeless myself in the next month - if things don't pick up.

I saw a breathing lump under a blanket, what could it be? - 1 hobo - 2 dwarf hobos - 8 racoons - 443 rats - 896 mice or 11 rat kings?

Yo, GOST, an informative quick read before you follow through with self defense with a knife.

HAHA that article is so very true. I guess I don't really plan on using it but it does help make me feel safer and especially my friends when I'm exploring with girls in small bodies.

It's a old Swiss army knife that I keep in my pocket so actually if anyone meant me harm by the time it takes me to stumble to get it out of my pocket and try to get a grip of the 3mm's of exposed metal to unfold the knife I would probably be on the ground bloodied up and unable to move.

As I said earlier, it makes the girls I go with feel safe.

Best you can do with homeless people honestly is just use your own best personal judgment.

It's just a question of being prepared in the best way you feel possible.

Maybe you should concentrate on finding them first and then exploring after. There are plenty of them out there.

A mirage is not an optical illusion. It is a real phenomenon, and one can take photographs of it. The interpretation of the image, however, is up to the fantasy of the human mind.

Now if you believe that you will never find one.

Urban Exploration is not one of those hobbies that by default repel the fairer sex like, say, collecting hentai or painting Warhammer figurines. As far as I know, a relatively large percentage of urban explorers are "chicks", although they usually prefer to be called girls or women instead of some slang term that reminds of stuff like "being scared" or "jailbait".

It's quite easy to introduce a girl to the world of UE. Of course it's harder if you're dealing with someone like Paris Hilton, but even then it's possible to drag her to an abandonment with an excuse like taking photographs of her. Anyway, you don't have to look for ready explorers - just pick a girl of your liking and turn her into one.

if it was only that easy.. lol one of my friends who is a girl is absoloutly apalled by my draining. i have two others that love to explore but its hard since they arent really fit enough to make it into the windows like the rest of my team. im not saying all girls are un fit. just these two.

Or better yet, find a homeless lady who lives in an abandonment and treat her to Denny's. You get a date and someone to UE with.

Whatever turns you on. I prefer them clean and shaved :>

As for the unfit-for-climbing issue, well, do all the locations you visit require climbing? Neither I nor the girl I dated were fit enough for ninja stuff, but it didn't prevent us from exploring various abandonments together. By helping each other we even managed to climb a bit every now and then.

You can also try to find a common excercise or hobby (not THAT, you pervs, it just isn't enough) that'll make and keep you fit for physically demanding feats like climbing walls.

The only problem I can with girls and abandoned buildings I can think of is, to put it blunt and simple, that they can be raped. That's why YOU're there with your throbbing muscles...

;)

OMG Crab! You need to find a happy medium. Find a girl that is into you and she will probably find it in herself to do what you enjoy if you take an interest in what she does.

But there are no girls in 'Splinter Cell', so how could there possibly be girls on his "Team"?

back on the topic of homeless it seems that the police have found a homeless village in the woods behind where i work. the police tore down their village and kicked them out, now they are wandering all over downtown. sure enough one of them was randomly yelling at no one lol im not even kidding. he was yelling across the street and no one was there that i could see.

God it must be hard to be homeless. You don't have a place to stay and when you finally do find someplace for shelter your kicked out by cops. What are they supposed to do? Grow a money tree and move into a penthouse downtown?

I prefer to run into real homeless people downtown, as opposed to the intimidating pan-handlers that stand around near Mo-Pac, 183 and the like.

They won't bother you if you don't bother them, and many are thrilled if you give them something to eat or drink. Be nice to them. What's the worst that can happen?

(So far, the worst has been a marriage proposal.)

Amen. Same with Downtown Anywhere I suppose...Although no proposals yet.

I saw a guy who was talking to all the cross walk buttons like they were microphones - didnt have time to stop and tell him I could hear him fine without getting so close to them...

thing is they are around the place i work. someone made the mistake of giving one money so he kept comeing back asking for money from us. i walk across the street to the circle(k) all the time and they will ask for money sometimes. but i know i cant give it to them or they will ask everyday...

and they come up with different excuses even thow i see them buying beer everytime i see them.

"i need to buy gas for my car at thats at the parking garage becuz my wife is at the hospital haveing my baby."

yet he was holding no gas can
