Oh wait, we're talking about stuff we see on the news?

Shit, someone gets shot every day in Dayton. Old news.

Yay for living in one of America's worst cities crime wise.

Tiger Woods WOULD be the most dangerous thing to run into in an abandonment

I saw a breathing lump under a blanket, what could it be? - 1 hobo - 2 dwarf hobos - 8 racoons - 443 rats - 896 mice or 11 rat kings?

I think my frustration with "OMG GANGS!" isn't just with Crab_Soul. It's with the whole idea that the world is somehow more dangerous than ever before, that you can't leave your safe suburban enclave without being assaulted, and that random strangers are out to get you.

There are parts of any town that aren't good places to be -- heck, I've detailed some of Dallas' dicier neighborhoods in the "meetup" thread. Reasonable caution will serve you well, and if it doesn't seem right, don't go there. But don't buy into the fear. Most people are just like you... staying alive, trying to get by.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Thank you RobB

I think you have to take this bunch a little bit like Roger Rabbit.

Intrepid gumshoe, Eddie Valiant, has just been dragged through his office, washed his socks in the sink, and walked through the bar all dragging Roger Rabbit along by the set of handcuffs that the cartoon bunny locked onto the pair as a goof. In the back room of the bar, Valiant finds a hacksaw, and starts cutting away at the cuffs.

Roger, pulling his hand out of his cuff: Does this help?

Valiant: Yeah, it... hey!

(Roger puts his hand back in the cuff, looking sheepish)

Valiant: You mean you could've taken your hands out of those handcuffs the entire time!?

Roger: No, Eddie, I couldn't...I could only do it when it was funny!

We're kind of like that. We have the straight and sensible answers to just about any question you can come up with... but chances are, you're not going to get it right when you ask for it. Only when it'th funny.

Come on Crabs , you kinda set your self up for some of the fun ? What do you expect when you put everything out there in the open ? You gotta remember , everyone knows your business when it's posted in the forums. At first it was fun , now it's become quite annoying.

No, see that would have been funny if you would have been replying to this thread stating that the most dangerous thing you've ever seen exploring was a raccoon with laser beams shooting out of it's eyes. Don't take this offensively, I'm just trying to help you out.

Wildlife vs. human? Give me the human.

You can negotiate with a homeless guy -- you can give him a cigarette, treat him with some respect, maybe he'll show you the entrance to the cool stuff.

You can't negotiate with a cornered raccoon. You're in his element. He can bite the crap outta you and then run down a tunnel before you can even form an expletive in your head.

I was camping in that cool, hidden state park north of Memphis (not the one just north of town, but the one halfway to Kentucky). I was the only one on the camping loop, and there was only one other bunch in the entire campground (a bunch of Boy Scouts or something on the other side of the park). Late in the night, I heard scraping and clunking. I peeked out of the tent, and saw a big ol' raccoon -- he'd pried the lid off of the trash can and was looking for any goodies I might have left for him. Finding nothing but an empty can of Beanie Weenies and an equally empty Pepsi can, he departed.

I checked out the Pepsi can in the morning. The critter had bit right through the can, hoping to find something yummy inside. The can wasn't mangled... he didn't have to work at it. He just picked it up, took a bite, and decided there wasn't anything but aluminum.

You think you can just kick him out of the way? You move that flimsy human leg toward Mr. Raccoon, and you're going to get back a little less meat than you threw out.

Bigger? Yeah, you're bigger, but you've got two legs and he's got four. And big ain't much of an advantage in a drain, or when the floor could crumble under your soft feet.

Smarter? Sure, you can do calculus, but he's got a degree from Charles Darwin's school of Survival of the Fittest. And you don't have your calculator.

Stronger? Bullshit. Come back when you go 'round nibbling on Pepsi cans.

umm wow. one kick and a racoon is dead.. stomp on it.. youl break its ribs and collaps its lungs. and who says im going to corner it? all the ones i run into just run the other way down the tunnel. hell throw your backpack at it.. it gets distracted and you and your buddys all stomp the little critters face. i mean.. i weigh 210. ide just have to fall on it to kill it..

most homeless are fine. but atleast here in shreveport we have quite a few of the mentaly ill type. they dont know you dont mean harm. and im only saying this from my co-workers experience of being randomly swiped at by a hobo with a rusty peice of metal. so that kind of freaks me out a bit im honest.

When photos of animals with lasers shooting out of their eyes start showing up, it renders this thread no longer useful or relevant to the original topic.

Show up at 9:30 with 15 dollars cash and your fingers crossed.
