Abandoned Pool in Lexington, NC

My uncle lives across the street from it and claims he helped build it in the 50s. It closed within the last 10 years and the property owner has supposedly been picking the roof apart over time for other uses for the wood (hence the collapse).

These pics were taken in August 2007, and supposedly it is in much worse shape today.

Abandoned pools can be fun! Some of these are blurry, though. I suggest carrying a small light so your autofocus can set itself right. Half-pull the trigger with the light shining on the surface, then turn off the light and finish the shot. Even better is if your camera can focus on a laser dot, as that won't affect the camera's auto-WB and light levels. If you have $10-$20 to blow on it, a tripod is your friend, too - especially as shutter times rise above 1/4 second.

I can't imagine robbing structural pieces of a good and complete building for any use. Seems a dangerous way to get building supplies, too (take apart the roof currently over your head, probably alone?). That pool looks like it could be nice, but it isn't very deep.

These were taken in 2007 before I really knew anything about photography, and all I had was the old point and shoot. I have since bought a tripod (which REALLY helped in Dixie Square) and built myself a small but powerful flashlight.
