From the article
The only noticeable vandalism on the structures is the writing “Darma Property” near the hatch. Tennent smiled, recognizing that the graffiti was likely a reference to the television show “Lost.”

Well, it sounds like some urban explorers have already been out there. We can be confident that that's who they were because they couldn't spell worth a damn.

not that i can tell, havent been out there yet lol
it sounds like it opens up and has some sort of equipment inside still that used to be used (from what people think) to ultra low freq radio transmitting/ listening.
the navy knows it used to be one of its installations...but doesnt have ANY records what it was for

It's an abandoned tracking station for monitoring & tracking the torpedos that for many over 50 years, the US Navy has in the restricted military operating areas within the Undersea Warfare Center's Quinault Underwater Tracking Range in Dabob Bay.

Exactly why they used the type of shelter they did (as opposed to a more normal looking elevated observation post heavy-duty enough to support the weight of the tracking equipment) I do not know.

Shame on the local Navy dudes for not knowing what it was...

If any of you do get up there, please take & post a variety of photos showing the exterior of the structure, and of course photos of the interior, and I should be able to ID what's what.

Made one trip out based on some old info, but we only found an old water tower. Looked good from the satellite though!
Attempting a new search from the water, based on the Pulali Point shore discription in the first news paper article. Still deciding on a date...

Teaser.

FYI: The neighbors are friendly and will tell you where the site is if you present yourself as a pro Navy history buff. Also hinting you're writing a news article will help.

Nice, is it on Pulali Point?
Is it best to try by land or the coast?
