i'm sure there are a lot of photos, but i thought i'd share a few of mine.
i think this trip was made summer 2005. we walked around the grounds until we found the steam tunnel entrance. then we made a left in the tunnel, came up in one of the big buildings and explored from there.
it was one of the funnest days of my life.
is there anything at all left over there?

What's left is two cottages. Blocked off by big gates but there is easy access. Condos will be built around the 2 cottages don't know if the last two cottages will be destroyed or not!

are the remaining cottages impressive? if they're the ones i remember, they were rather small and nothing crazy.

They seem to have 2 floors on each place that's left. I was told black mold took over them and that people still actively explore them.

I was heartbroken when I found out Whitby Psych was torn down (in fact, the way I found this website -- searching google to see if it was still standing).

It's been a lifelong goal to check out and photograph an abandoned psychiatric hospital.

I remember being almost disturbingly sad for several weeks when it finally came down; I used to take the train out there every single Sunday (well, the train, then the bus) for almost a year - except in the winter...)

I remember this place. My first Explore in 2004. Such a beauty is was as well, no pictures sadly since I didn't even know about the hobby at them time. My brother and his buddy decided we should go check it out, so we went one night and had a look through the buildings. I'm guessing there were some missing judging from pics I've seen.

The building for the children really made my hair stand up. Seeing all those painted hand prints still on the wall, wondering who's they were and what had become of the occupants of such prints.

Probably my favourite place as well, very sad it's gone now as it was quite an awesome place to explore.

Ah, Whitby Psych. My uncle took me to there several years back, before I knew this was even a hobby. He wanted to show me the place before the entire thing had been demolished. Sadly though, I didn't get any pictures because I wasn't really into photography. Plus, I was just a dumb kid - not knowing that I had a chance to capture some beautiful photographs, and a piece of history.

Like Skunner, the child's building really got to me.

Anyways, that was my first UE without even knowing it, and I owe it all to my uncle.
