| | | The History Channel has a series going on called "Life After People", which, much like the Two-Hour Discovery Channel special last year, chronicles what would happen to the earth if people just up and vanished all at once. The special effects are only so-so, but the cool part are the real-world abandonments they explore and use as case studies to substantiate their claims about what a humanless future for the planet would look like. In the first episode, they spend a surprising amount of time exploring Hashima Island, better know as "Gunkanjima", or Battleship Island. In the second episode, they tour some of the more notable abandonments in Gary, Indiana, including the Train Station, Palace Theater, and of course the spectacular First Methodist Church. So there's a heavy urbex slant to the first couple episodes...haven't watched episodes 3 or 4 yet...they're all readily accessible via BitTorrent though. If these places are compelling to you, check the show out. [last edit 5/26/2009 4:21 AM by Imbroglio - edited 1 times]

| | | Awesome! I really enjoyed that special and if they are going to places like Battleship Island I'd really like to see it.
