The Commodore Cabin

So hurried was I to get in and out of this place due to an occupied home down the road, that I failed to notice the Vic-20 in the box until I looked at my photos from home. I name this place, the Commodore Cabin.

Another memory of the past located a short drive from home...

Ah the Vic 20. Did they have the external drive (cassette tape)?

You've been a busy boy lately.

Yeah, I'm always a busy boy.

I don't know about the datasette because I didn't see the computer until I looked at the finished photos when I got back home.

I can remember the good ole Vic-20 had only one joystick port. Someone wrote a tank game in which you could connect a second joystick to the RS-232 port in the back of the computer. I didn't own a computer back then (about 1982) so I went to a friend's house to try this thing out.

I went to connect an alligator clip to the port (for the joystick add-on in back) and since the alligator clip has teeth on BOTH sides of it (and the RS-232 port has pins on both sides), I shorted it out and it died.

My friend was not happy... I remember leaving hastily... until I later learned that it was just a fuse.

My very first computer was a VIC-20, and the cassette. It only had 4K RAM, although, as I recall, you could buy an expansion module that plugged into the back where the game cartridges went.
