Barracuda House

This is an old house that I stumbled upon yesterday while scouting for places to explore. Hopefully you'll be able to see the amount of decay this house has in the pictures. In about a month you wont be able to see the house from the road because it is so overgrown.

I don't know any history of the place but, judging from what I saw, it hasn't had anyone living in it for 20+ years. There is a lot to see at this place because there is so much junk strewn about plus abandoned vehicles. My pictures barely scratch the surface!

I have about 40 pictures of this place but, I thought I'd start out slow! I'll post more if anyone is interested.

I loved the pic of the Deep Purple 8 track tape! I believe 1982 was the last year that media was manufactured.

Thanks! I thought it was pretty cool since it was really the only thing that I saw that gave me an idea of the previous occupant's personality.

There is one other thing about this house that surprised me:

There was an outline of a foundation on the south side of the house that could have been a small, attached garage. There were 4 or 5 of these 'pilings' inside the perimeter of the foundation. No other concrete for a floor, however. I usually see things like this for heavy machinery that needs a solid, unmoving base. I have no idea why a house in the middle of nowhere would have something like this. I should have taken more pictures of these. Maybe someone has an idea what they could have been used for?

EDIT: Punctuation.

Abandoned houses and barns are my favorite, too.

This house is ready to collapse so, I only took pictures from through the windows. It would take someone braver than me to go inside. There is a second story, however. And if someone took a ladder...

Nice find! I was thinking while browsing your pics the floor looked awfully shady...don't think I would've gone inside either.

Yeah, and the ladder idea might not be a good one either. As shaky as the place is, leaning a ladder on it could finish it!

Love to read about the odd stuff found and liked the deep purple tape and the old stereo unit in the grass. I also enjoy poking around the farmlands and seeking out the traces of previous life.

Cool car!

Thanks Wiccan and noogie!

This place had about a dozen washing machine agitators spread out in the yard. You can see at least two by the baby's playpen. There seemed to be a lot of unrelated items in the yard that just gave the whole place a confused feel. I'd like to know more but, that might ruin the mystery.

Yes it is. A '68 or '69 with a V-8 four-barrel. I don't know if it's original or not. Sitting so far in the dirt, I'll bet there's no floors or frame left!

Props for the Deep Purple 8 track. Back in the 90s, around 95, I had a Datsun 510 that had an 8-track player, Deep Purple's Made in Japan was the one 8-track that worked. Awesome being 90s guy w/70s technology.

You betcha

Sweet! The last 8-track player I had was a Craig PowerPlay mounted under the dash of a '67 Tempest. With Jensen 6x9s!

A Cuda, and vintage DP 8 track tapes? Obviously a man of character, culture, and good taste.
This house should be a shrine.

Nice find

Awesome find. The 'Cuda and Deep Purple 8-track are the best. The car body looks to be in decent shape. I'd imagine the frame is rusted out from sitting on the ground.
