Thanks for your speedy response. We are looking to feature some actual Urban Spelunkers! G4 is a television station, male dominated demographic of 18 – 35. The show I am working on is called G4 Underground it is a documentary series about amazing sub-cultures and topics that mainstream TV touches upon but never covers. I am finding out more and more about Urban Exploration/Spelunking as I research more and was wondering if people would be receptive to be involved? We would be looking for a small group and maybe feature 2 people in the group and follow them as they explore……etc… Let me know if this makes sense and also if you know anyone that would like to be involved!!!! I appreciate your help!!!

the series is to show the "underworld". they have done various thins like real superheros and fight clubs. the show pretty much sucks. because they don't do their research

While that may be true if some had come on to this site for researcher, people would ridicule and boot them.

Dude. I am sorry, max. I did not mean to sic her on you. Just FYI I did not give her actual contact info, i wouldn't do that without checking with someone first. She called me and told me among other things that she was looking to find out more about how UE could be fun and exciting. She hadn't, apparently, gotten past the first 10 google hits on the subject, if that. so i think i told her to check out actionsquad, both for the instructional value of its stories as to the nature and content of UE, and for the general tone of excited adventure. and BTW you're right about failing the exclamation-point quota... IF she was a guy. but i am a shallow, asinine man, and because i think mostly with my dick (& with the part of my brain that concocts sexual fantasies, i guess) i sometimes hold women and men to different standards-- and one of those differences is that I don't mind if girls use a year's supply of exclamation points in one paragraph. Like giggling or shrieking, it can even be cute. And on top of it all, she started it all by calling me up and saying she wanted me to be on TV because she thinks my pics are so awesome. i'm just a sucker for that sort of thing. Though not enough of a sucker to do a TV segment without getting a day rate. -steve p.s. man it's been a while since i've been on this forum. all sorts of new formatting options... the gallery generator... Av you keep doing very good work with this thing.
from Erika Dobrin <[email protected]> to [email protected] date Fri, Feb 13, 2009 at 7:49 PM subject Urban Exploration Hey Steve- Great talking to you, and again your photography is amazing…I find myself drawn to so many of the photos! I contacted Max from the action squad and he responded right back so thanks for that contact. As I mentioned to you, if you think of any other groups/people that may be good for this please let me know or forward my information to them! I understand that you may not be interested in doing something with us, but what if it was featuring your photography…meaning a different way of looking at Urban Exploration!! I am trying to flush out some ideas and that was one that came to mind. Have a great weekend!! I will be in touch! Erika Dobrin G4 Underground 323.692.4390

| | | ha, no worries, I've been sucked into many a mess myself - but in this case, the combination of her constant exclamation-pointing and, moreso, her description of the channel based on its marketing demographics ("male dominated demographic of 18 – 35") were enough to set my alarm bells ringing ... if I'd met her in person and she was a cutie though maybe I'd have succumbed myself. I still get random requests to take part in various projects and stories, I give some of them consideration but generally anything that is going to go on TV I run from. Lowest common denominator almost inevitably rules there ...

| | | The use of "spelunking" was an immediate alarm to me. The saying "cavers rescue spelunkers" is prominent in the caving community as spelunkers tend to be critically unprepared people getting themselves into bad situations underground. Either the marketing department for the show didn't do their research, or they didn't care about the negative implications that spelunking carries with it.

You didn't miss much. The whole segment, excluding the commercials, isn't much more than five minutes long. I don't know with any certainty that I could watch it again, commercials or not, without throwing something at my television (or at least being tempted to do so).
