| | | If it hurts your eyes to look at it, your eyes must be overly fucking sensitive...Or you're a whiny idiot pointlessly looking for things to bitch about. I think Detroit probably has more worthwhile things to invest time and money into.

| | | I used to live in Michigan before moving to Cali - any chances on getting in, or is the place totally trashed now and pretty much only worth looking at from the outside? This was one of the places I dreamed about going into when I lived there, but never knew anyone to go exploring with (since then the Michigan scene has grown just a little bit!).

Your kidding right? That is one of the most amazing places in Detroit ON THE INSIDE. Looking at it only from the outside and not going in is as bad as saying you were making out with a super model and all you did was cop a feel after she said "I want you to fuck me real hard"...you know.

| | | I don't care what any of these dollar store politicians say, that is one of the most beautiful buildings in our city (if not the entire North/Mid West area) I have been in it (as a very small child) when it was still operational as well as since it has been abandoned. If ANYTHING, the building itself has more class and style than any of our Detroit political figures will ever have! I would like to explore it at least one more time before the culture vultures rip it down although I haven't inspected the area in many years and I would prefer to go w/ at least one other person. If anyone reading this would like to accompany me, please PM me asap.

| | | The City Council are a bunch of idiots. I would be a lot more worried about the neighborhoods then this "eye sore". If it were up to met I'd have that money used to demolish burned out or abandoned houses in the neighborhoods. This buildings draws people from the suburbs every day. If anything it helps the city, people come down to explore and take pictures.

| | | Posted by /-/ooligan The Detroit City Council was making the same calls for immediate action TEN YEARS AGO when I was living in downtown Detroit & could see the Central Depot out my living room window, about a mile or two away. Their clucking about it now is just busy-work to try to show that they're conducting important city business. Manny Maroun is a smart ol' bastard that lets them continually cluck-away and just ignores them.
|
I must agree. They've tried this before and Manny always comes up with a "viable development plan" that gives him enough leeway to make the city council look like jerks for trying to tear down his historic building. Between the historic register stuff they'd have to deal with and the fact that Manny has enough lawyers and money to sue the city just for fun, I don't think MCS is going anywhere anytime soon.

One last chance for ghost depot

I want to be different. But I want to be different just like everybody else, because if I really were different, everybody would think I was crazy and weird. Iowa is Minnesota's bitch. There's an art to pooping. |

More like Eye candy I would say. The 360 degree pano of the lobby almost made me cream my pants.

| | | I explored the bottom 2 floors in 1999 and my impression was that it reminded me of an old Cathedral that had been bombed out and gutted during WWII. The sounds of the pigeons (or bats, perhaps ??) flying around in the upper regions created an eerie echo effect as well. I recall being in that station as a very small child (First grade age or so) when it was still up and running. I remember yelling and howling like a crazy kid just to hear my own voice echo off the walls and ceilings back then as well
