Arson investigation

The site of a Sunday-evening fire in Corbyville is now part of an arson investigation, Belleville Police say.

Few details were available Monday morning but a police news release said the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office had been contacted about the fire

Firefighters and police responded to the fire at vacant building on River Road around 5:09 p.m. Sunday.

The building, which police said was owned by Trenton Cold Storage, is on the site of the former Corby distillery and had also been a Thurlow Township municipal office and post office.

River Road remains closed as the investigation continues.

Drivers are asked to instead use Highways 62 and 37.

The road is unblocked now, but that have security posted (note sure if it's my company guarding or not). One of the building sections has no roof, but from the quick glace I got it looks like most of the structure was saved. I was hoping to visit this place maybe this summer but with increased security and possible construction I don't think I'll get a chance very soon.

That red door is a fav of wedding photogs, I was in a wedding party that got shot in front of it. I have also driven by and seen many other wedding parties getting shot on those steps in front of the door.
That little reception hall to the north of the fire house on the waters side is amazing!
