The bus tour left our hotel at 530 AM. It is about a 1 hour and a 1/2 drive to the border of Costa Rica/Nicaragua. After customs in both countries(no problems) the tour guy took care of everything, even breakfast. The bus continued to first a town overlooking a volcanic lake crater. The whole town was after tourist $$, but anyway if you had to take a leak it was 50 cents, in the worst bathroom I've ever seen. It was like a trough were you pissed in and it came right back out on the floor.
Oh well, 3rd world. Next we went to Masaya. The tour went to an old castle fort, which is now a market. Pretty uncomfortable since they have escorts who pick you out in the bus and follow you around the market.(looking for tips? I guess)

Next the bus went to the volcano. After a long 3 mile pull up the mountain, they parked and let us peer into the steaming, sulphur of an active volcano. AWESOME!

Then the bus took us to the Spanish colonial town of Granada. Very cool town. Very brilliant colours, and neat architecture. I only got one photo of an abandoned hospital. The rest of the photos are from the horse drawn carraige tour of the town or from the bus.

The only building we could really go in was a church with a spiral staircase. When we got to the top we could see the whole town.

Then we went downtown to meet our bus, and get bothered by beggars(pretty common)

Overall a great "Tourista UE" experience......

What do you guys think??

Wow, that volcano is amazing, lovely picture, decay everywhere.

Knowledge is realizing that the street is one-way, wisdom is looking both directions anyway

Looks like a nice place but sounds like a tourist trip I wouldn't pay for...

While you are in Costa Rica, you should look at the Abandoned Sanitorium and Prison Island.

Both are pretty freaking awesome.

my parents retired to Costa Rica, so eventually, i will probably have a home in Costa Rica
